Payment was delayed, but it did sell. Hated to see that one go out the door, but I knew I would never wear it given that it was a bit tight. But dang, it was prime example. Onward to the next acquisition...

Greetings, loungers. I've decided the color isn't great for me, despite the fact that the fit was perfect. I've got my Aero Californian up for auction on ebay. Take a look if you're interested.

If you are willing to pay $380 for a jacket, but not the $600 or more that would get you a new Schott, then I recommend getting a used one on ebay. It will still be great quality, and have the character of an older worn jacket. Don't waste your money on something like a Wilson jacket. You will...
I'd rank G&B higher in terms of quality. You are getting what you pay for. I'd email whomever you are buying from and ask for measurements (shoulders, sleeve, pit to pit, back length, zipper length, etc.) just to make sure you get the fit you want. Wings typically runs way over-size in my...
Do Johnson and Langlitz make flight jackets? Anyway, Aero is top dollar for sure. If you're going for some degree of accuracy, but don't want to spend a thousand dollars, I really like the look of Bill Kelso's house A-2. It's their cheapest offering, and looks to be very well made. Would run...
Yeah, on a vintage jacket, especially with tough leather like horsehide, any attempt to stretch a sleeve will probably end badly. You could pull this off with something soft like lambskin, but you would still have to proceed carefully, as it is very easy to pop stitches. In short, I wouldn't try it.
Gentlemen, I have decided to sell my prized jacket now that I have an Aero that fits properly. 1950s Sears Hercules Half Belt Jacket in seal brown horsehide, size 40. Link to ebay listing below photos. Thanks for looking...
Jeff, beautiful leather on that one. Highwaymanman, I get what you're saying. The brown FQHH Aero uses seems quite special. Maybe it is a good middle ground between russet and seal.
Just a quick tip: In the title of your listing, you wrote AEROLEATHER. Instead, put a space between each word. When I search "Aero Leather Jacket," your listing doesn't come up, but it will when you fix your title. Pretty jacket! Cheers.
The Hercules fits fine unzipped, but zipped it is too large in the chest on me. I would want a jacket of this style to have a very lean, trim fit, which the Aero does (although the arms holes are a bit over-sized). The only thing stopping me from selling the Hercules is just how scarce they are...
Still can't decide. The Hercules is an awesome jacket, but it fits a bit big on me in all honesty. It is a 40, but I typically wear a 38. I'm aiming to keep one of them and sell the other. I have a few other leather jackets that I like a lot, so I don't need two halfbelts. Any other opinions out...
This particular model of Sears Hercules seems to be the one that Aero based its 50s Halfbelt patterns on. There were other makers out there, but this seems remarkably similar. Bill Kelso's Westfall jacket is also based on a Sears Hercules original.
Here are some photos. The first two are the new russet goatskin Aero Californian I picked up. The last is my Sears Hercules halfbelt in seal horsehide.
Cheers.
