Ohhh what a wonderful thread! If only the whole thing could come true!!
I was going to volunteer as a librarian but it seems there are a lot of people already filling that position, so...
I love to sing & dance...I could be in vaudeville! (I love vaudeville.) Or I could be a lady druggist...
I used to like MGM...until I heard about how awful they were to their stars. I still like their movies, mostly...I like Paramount only because they have Martin/Lewis, Edith Head and Audrey Hepburn. The others I'm rather fuzzy on, I'd have to do some research.
Thank you ladies! You have me persuaded. :) I really really want to wear one--I love the 50s look-- wasp waist and poofy skirt. I'll have to look into a nylon petti, the one I currently have is rather tulle-ish and quite full & scratchy. I really want to make some corduroy and wool circle...
Wearing petticoats?
I know it's a bit past the dates of this forum, but do any of you venture into 1950s and wear petticoats? I have a very nice floofy petti that I want to wear with a circle skirt badly, but I'm a little afraid to wear it out...I'm afraid it'll look too outrageous or...
I've had at least two people in the last two weeks tell me, "Oh you really are an old soul, aren't you" which is kind of complimentary and daunting at the same time (I mean, I'm still a teenager, come on!), especially since they were both said in the same almost-sneering tone. Except I know...
I watched the Colgate Comedy Hour last night...the episode where Jerry ends up in the jail cell as a secret agent....so funny! Early live TV at it's finest.
I have a ton of favorite movies...just one? Jeez....
Roman Holiday!! I love Audrey Hepburn, I love Gregory Peck, I love the romantic storyline and the funny moments and the super-awesome bittersweet ending (something you see rarely in Hollywood films)...I love Edith Head's costumes...I just...
I found this lovely swing cloak in a thrift store for $10, not sure exactly what era it's from or if it's even vintage, but it looked vintage and I liked it so I got it. :D Can anyone tell me more about it?
I think a big part of having the confidence to dress vintage is knowing that you look good in golden era (or other vintage era) styles. I never felt that I looked my best in modern clothes, but when I'm all dressed up, hair done, vintage makeup on, I *feel* pretty. And in turn, confident. :)...
My parents are both history buffs and I got hooked on history at a young age, mostly due to my mother's incessant reading to me of the Little House series and my love of the American Girls collection. My dad kept me faithfully supplied with old movies from his childhood and was always playing...
Hello ladies! I found the Fedora Lounge a couple of days ago and I have not been able to tear myself away from it! I've always loved historic fashion, especially vintage as it seemed so wearable (compared to, say, Civil War clothes!) but am just now getting into incorporating the clothes, hair...
