I work from an office at home, writing software. I get to wear pretty much whatever I want to wear. Usually it's dress pants and a long sleeved white dress shirt. I am not really into vintage clothing so it doesn't matter.
I checked my AWOL bag, and my guess is that it probably would not be a good choice for carrying shotgun shells. As was suggested, a thin plywood bottom added to it might do the trick though. The bag itself should have no problem at all standing up to the weight - it is very well constructed -...
Skeet - I just realized you said "28 gauge" ammo. Wow, my congratulations on owning one of the classics! The 28 gauge is truly a Gentleman's gun. I would assume it is a side-by-side double? Any more info, any photos?
I'm heading out the door in a few minutes, but when I get back, I'll take another look at it with that in mind. Specifically, I want to see how stiff the bottom floor is. I could load a bunch of ammo in it to see how it does and let you know. For that sort of thing though, I'd probably be...
I have no idea why the BBCode doesn't work on this forum sometimes. Oh well. Try the link below.
It must have been a temporary glitch. It came up just fine, and when I clicked on "Add to cart" it had "In Stock" on it.

I have had my AWOL bag for several years now, and I have been very pleased with it. I have found no problems at all with the leather - it holds up well and ages well. The scrapes that any such bag gets during normal use just give it a nice character rather than making it look shabby. I have not...
You just described my thoughts exactly. The only vintage pens I am interested in is the one I inherited from my father. I have a Waterman medium point that now stays on my desk, but the Pelikan Souveran 600 with a Fine point is now my regular "in the pocket" pen. I am VERY well impressed with...
I just received my seeds on Wednesday. Appropriately enough to this thread, I ordered them from the Victory Seed Company as I have been doing for years. This year, I am trying something different. I am going to a modified version of the Square Foot Garden system. It is basically container...
A-2 and CCW is the topic, so here are two photos of my own CCW guns on my A-2 jacket:
The first is by far my favorite. It is my "Personal Sidearm" and is carried at all times. As for carry purposes though, the A-2 really has nothing to do with it since I carry it in an inside-the-pants pouch...
Thanks for the report. I had thought about using the lock as sort of a quick closing method, and I'm glad to hear that it works well for you. Mine is already ordered and I'm sure I could change it if I wanted to (we're looking at a lead time of probably 8 - 9 weeks at least), but I'll probably...
I'm afraid that I have no idea on that. I have heard others mention that they ordered a different kind of latch, and perhaps it is just something you press and don't use a key. I suspect that even the one with the key does not have to be locked. Typically, those types of latches are where you...
I just put in my order for a customized briefcase as described in my previous post. One thing different is that mine will not have any lock/latch on it. It will have only the two straps to close it. I just couldn't see having a lock on it that can break or losing the key. I'm not going to be...
I plan to order one later next week. The plan is to have it modified as follows:
Start with the 3 compartment 1945, then eliminate one of the compartments making it 2.5" thinner. Eliminate the pen/cellphone/PDA holders normally sewn to the back side of it. Emboss my initials. I will also be...
Thanks, John. That would have been a great idea - didn't even consider the possibility. I found exactly one reference to pen collecting around here. It was a forum post from 2005 asking if there were any other pen collectors around the area (my home town). No replies, so not a good sign. I...
I recently inherited my father's Esterbrook pen. I will be sending it off to get it opened up, have the sac replaced, and generally cleaned up. It will be strictly an at-the-desk pen kept for sentimental value - I will carry one of my other pens for routine use. It has the 9668 nib on it (before...
I received the title of "Kentucky Colonel" by the governor of Kentucky on Sept. 30, 2004. It might be a common thing in Kentucky, but for someone like me living in Florida, it was rather remarkable. I have since used "Colonel" as a user name on several forums.
I've got that vest, but based on the photo anyway, mine is a lighter color. Mine is at least 20 years old - probably more. "Stiff" is the right word to describe it. It is definitely something that will outlast me, and that's the way I like it.
I've been using that brush from Duluth Trading for quite a while now. It is well made, stiff enough to do the job, and at a great price. Highly recommended.
