I know the Statoliner pin isn't as nice as a vintage one, but it is somthing a little different. When people ask about it (or make fun of it) It gives me an opportunity to explain about the original namesake.
The hat itself is a rather nice hat, although mine has the same brim issues...
This is the story of how I bought my Milan Stratoliner. On march 19, I emailed Henry the Hatter in Detroit, asking if they carried the Stratoliner in Milan. Joe replied that this was not a hat that they normally stocked, but they could order one. There would be a special order fee of $15.00 added...
I just picked up my Capricorn from the post office.I really like it.The fit is good, and the fawn colour will make it a good work hat.Very nice hat for the money.Everything Austrailian are super.
I am constantly amazed by the exposure to so many interesting topics that I receive via this forum! Thanks to all you fellows for your wonderful contributions.
Thanks, but that won't work in Canada. I see they also have a minimum order of $100.00 before they will ship Internationally. (Buying Akubras is so much easier)
I wouldn't mind one of these, but I see Menshats doesn't have size 7 3/8 in sand. I checked with Henry The Hatter, and it would be a special order, subject to an extra $15.00 charge, and 4 to 6 weeks wait.
I reason my use of a chin strap as follows. For the most part chin straps look silly, no matter what hat.The only thing that looks sillier than a chin strap is a man chasing his hat.
Welcome to the lounge!
I remember my first fedora. It was grey. As was my second. Later came the tawnys, fawns, browns, and a limestone. Silverbelly will be next. Just wanted to let you know what you may be in for.
Thank you for the tip Art.I followed your advice with a Biltmore that I used for work last summer, it was filthy after a long wheat harvest. Im not going to say it looks like a brand new hat, but it cleaned up very nice.
