    Show us your TIES

Two of the most standout hallmarks of ties from the 40s/early 50s are the label being sewn to the back blade of the tie and the width of the back blade. Ties began to get narrower in the late 50s and through the 60s, but but as they began to get wider again, the back stayed narrow. By the 70s it...

Thanks guys. I was definitely surprised to find something like it in the wild....even more surprised that it fit.

    Western, anyone?

3X Stetson with embroidered last drop liner, made in Philadelphia, with box. 6" open crown with 3.5" bound edged brim. Don't find stuff like this at the junk sales too often. And it fits.

    Post New Hats Here!

I picked two hats from the same flea (market) yesterday, which of course beats picking two fleas from the same hat....or even one, for that matter.

Found this 40s Towncraft amongst a pile of wide 70s polyester ties at the flea market. A blind man could've picked this one as distinct from the rest of the lot.

Maybe the best day picking junk from the fleas that I've had in a while. Both hats fit me, but I think my favorite score was the little tin alligator...he's got wheels and when he rolls along his feet move and his mouth opens and closes

Hats and Drinks - A Match Made in Heaven

My new job affords me the opportunity to wear something better than a filthy ball cap, but I still find myself dealing with some pretty dirty situations so I don't wear anything too upscale. This well worn 4X Open Road kept the sun off me today and now that the work is over it makes a fine...

    What's for Dinner?

Fried catfish, ham, meatloaf, chicken and dressing, corn, sweet potatoes, collard greens, black eye peas, macaroni and cheese, green beans, new potatoes, Brussels sprouts, squash casserole, Apple cobbler, and pecan pie. I had a little of all of it, a lot of some of it.

Nice! I like the intricate woven patterns, but especially the Luxira. Are they vintage? They remind me of the very late 70s-early 80s period before the really skinny ones came back in style.
