Nice Rodkins.
Here is the one I purchased a bit ago from the bay also:
The hat looks almost like it was never worn. Other than a few minor moth nibbles, it's in great shape.
The i.d. tag identifying the hat was produced in the 40's. Thanks Brad!
The beautifully stitched overwelt...
Hi Alan...thanks for that information! Do you happen to know when Clarke's went out of business?
My camera is on the fritz right now (batteries are completely drained of juice) so I'll have to see if I can get my hands on another camera, or new batteries very soon.

1940's Crofut & Knapp
My newly acquired 1940's Crofut & Knapp fedora.
Un-reeded sweatband is unbelievably comfortable. Color of the hat, is a bit darker than it appears in the photo.

Ande1964,
Is there any way you could re-upload the pictures of your Hat Stretcher in your "My New Homemade Hat Torture Device- Stretcher" post? The links to the pictures don't work any longer, and I'm fairly certain others would like to see those expired pictures, like I would, but can no...
Very nice hats, thanks for posting them. So how do they compare with other hat companies? Are they on-par with hat companies like Lee or Knox? Did they come in both Wool and Fur Felt?
I did end up purchasing one of them from an eBay auction, and I'll post it when it arrives on my doorstep...
I'm not so certain I agree with what seems to be the majority here.
I agree with the fact that Hollywood stars may have treated their hats with some...disregard perhaps, given the fact that in "those days" hats were...disposable, a normal part of everday wear. However, earlier in the week, I...
That's the one. Thanks for the info guys!
That logo is the one inside the hat.
Bought out by The Stetson company, eh?
I will upload the picture of the lining here in
just a bit.
EDIT: Ok here is the hat logo on the lining and sweatband:
Does anyone own a Alexander hat here...
Has anyone here heard of a Alexander Customized Hats?
From the one hat of theirs I saw, it looks a lot like a Dobbs. I
don't know the age of it, but I was just curious. I know there
is a store in NC. of the same name, buy do they make there own
hats there? and are they any good?
Thanks...
I did not know the man, but I can tell by the condolences here, that he was a much loved man.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends...He is in a much much better place now. May God grant his family the peace and the assurance of eternal life that we all have, if we only...
I'd like to know from the FL members here:
How many of you Put On and Take Off your Fedora (be it Wool Felt or a Fur Felt) using the crown instead of the brim?...unless it is a stiff-brimmed hat, like a homburg or a stingy, skimmer or the like.
I have been somewhat nostalgic since finding...
Thanks for the input guys.
It sounds/reads like the Felt Fedoras can get a bit too hot for some of the warmest days in the summer months. I'll have to get myself a lighter colored Felt Fedora, seeings I only have a Black one and a Brown one...most likely I'll be purchasing a Straw Fedora...
Felt Fedoras in The Summer Months
Ok...I have what you folks may call a silly question...but:
Do you wear your Felt Fedoras in the summer months? Or are they too hot, and thus go to wearing Straw Hats/Fedoras, or others?
It doesn't look like they do the LO, I wear a size 7 (22") so I suppose I would need the Small, at 21 1/4". I think my hat needs tha "Calssic Dome" My hat is slightly tapered in versus a straight-sided-no taper, that yours has? Then I suppose I would need a Hat stretcher after that to bring it...
