I've seen hats offered in beaver on the internet, often followed by varying numbers of x's... Is this the finest hat felt available? Are there even higher quality hat felts, like vicuna, or even shahtoosh?
Vicuna is significantly softer than cashmere, and shahtoosh is noticeably softer...
I'd like the hat similar to the Bellagio's or the Classic Fedora's geometry seen below. My hat size in Europe is 58 - Borsalinos may run small; please advise... The year of manufacture is insignificant, as long as it's not one of the new factory (i.e., lesser quality) Borsalinos. I'm in Rome...
That band and buckle definitely work for that particular hat. I agree with the "make your own mantra." It would be unique, and you'd have the satisfaction of making a nice contribution to the overall look of the hat.
I'm probably going to pull the trigger on a Borsalino "Safari County" found on the Italian E.Bay. The vendor (a hatshop in Milano) said it was a new model, and the price was 155 Euro. Even if it's a discontinued model, that's fine with me. The brim is 2.56" wide, the sweatband is leather as...
Many of the "safari" and "country" felt hats offered by well known hatmakers are adorned with relatively nice leather hat bands which work well for these types of hats. Most of them have logos, which detract from the hat's aesthetics, at least for me. The photo shows commonly found hat...

Giolitti in Rome, right near the Pantheon has some of the best gelato in Italy. It's all good!
In Sicily, in the city of Catania, the gelato specialty is made with ricotta cheese. It's incredibly good, and many gelaterie there have variations, including large pieces of chocolate in the gelato.
Thanks tommyK. The Borsalino hats look amazing in the store, and I would probably baby it if I purchased one., leaving it at home when it rained. Lol I just saw a Borsalino Traveler offered on e-Bay, and the owner advertises it as "hardly worn". Looks shabby, and it was decidedly not well...
Greetings,
I'm new to this forum, but I've been lurking for quite some time; gleaning as much information as I can. I was ready to purchase a Borsalino Traveler (Marco model) in Rome, where I live, but decided to do a bit of research before I did.
I need a good "commuting" hat that is good...
