    Missing Loungers Whom You Miss.

Ditto on the previous notes on C-dot...hope she's doing well. She has a unique élan and pluck to her comments. M.

What pens are we carrying today?

Gents, Thanks for your kind advice. I stepped out and purchased a blue/palladium Scheaffer Valor today with a fine nib and am looking forward to receiving it in the mail. I know buying from afar may not always be the recommended method, but this pen strikes me well and after reading the...

    My fathers war

My deep condolences and respect in the loss of your father Sir. You have served him well in the respect you have paid by profiling and committing to history his, and his comrades, selfless and courageous acts. Their dedication and belief in the opportunities of liberty, self determination and...

    What Are You Reading

Just finished Erik Larsen's "In the Garden of Beasts" about U.S. Ambassador to Germany William E. Dodd and his family while they lived and worked in Berlin in the mid to late thirties. A limited look into the atmosphere and environment of early Nazi Germany and some of the more resounding...

What pens are we carrying today?

May I impose on someone for some expert and experienced advice? Although not in the realm of vintage, I am very interested in the Sheaffer Valor fountain pen with a fine nib...does anyone have any experience with Sheaffer, this model, or their nibs? I am an avid pen user for the past year now...

    Show us your vintage home!

roadierfl and dhermann1...exceptional. Both in their own sense. Great character, accuracy, and timelessness. I'm guilty of envy! This is a fine and inspirational thread - thanks to all for sharing a personal aspect of your lives. M.

Correspondence - Find a Pen Pal

Ladies and Gentlemen, Am looking for a pen pal or two...have recently found myself absorbed in returning to the written word with proper pen, paper and ink. I have missed this medium a great deal and especially the fact that every letter is both historical and personal. Also a common trait of...

WW2 submarine pin and tie clamp

I am by no means an expert in this subject, but I would guess that this tie clip is from the Cold War era. The submarine is clearly nuclear powered and not of a World War II class. Sorry I can't be of more help, but good luck. M.

    Pearl Harbor 70th anniversary events?

Amazing. I heard on the radio that only 120 members made this date. Best to all of them. I don't think there is any way we could imagine that day from their perspective. Rest in Peace to the others. M

    REMEMBER? Pearl Harbor

    Show us your radios!

roadierfl, amazing work and commendable dedication to your future project. Those are significant undertakings that will long be appreciated. Just purchased my first era radio on Radio Attic and am looking forward to watching my wife unwrap it on Christmas...pic to follow. M.

    The 1940s Radio Hour Show

Sounds like a good show! Good catch and thanks for the recommendation. Wish it was more widespread or traveling, sound like a neat storyline. Reminds me a little of the old TCM (?) series 'Remember WENN.' Glad you and your Grandmother had a great time, M.

    From my father's photo collection

These are genuinely some fantastic photos and memorabilia...thanks a million for taking the time, effort and consideration of sharing them. Very infrequently, and it seems like only through forums like this one, do you get to see the rare, actual day to day life and strife of that era and...

Your Favorite Cartoons You Don't See Anymore

Jonny Quest was the origin of many adventurers and explorers, as well as exposing many to cross cultural considerations far before it was appreciated. And the original Justice League provided some great, MLE entertainment as well. Bugs Bunny, Scooby Doo, The Jetsons, Aquaman, and Boris and...

    Best online streaming station

I like KCEA at kcea.org, good music with a good blend. There are some exceptional stations on iTunes though if anyone is an Apple user. Look forward to hearing some other good recommendations... M.

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

Just watched "The Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer," with Cary Grant, Myrna Loy, and a teenage Shirley Temple. Your typical Cary Grant movie with the style and tidbit comedy. Shirley Temple was good and this was the first time I've seen of some age. Recommend it for some mild humor. M.
