    Downton Abbey - I'm hooked

Great season finale! I so thought they were setting it up for Lord Grantham to have a heart attack, which would force Tom to stay. I'm glad it ended on a positive note and not a heartbreaking one. SO glad all the Bates drama is over. I love both characters but that was getting really old...

15 Old House Features that we were wrong to abandon...

I have vivid memories of being a 3-yr old playing at my friend's house that had a laundry chute, and we would crawl in and slide down, landing in the basement. It's a wonder we didn't break our necks or kill ourselves. I definitely see why homes stopped having that feature, at least....

Joseph Gordon-Levitt buys pristine 1940's Home

I loved the master bathroom with its different rooms and stairs leading to one another.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt buys pristine 1940's Home

Actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt recently bought a 1940's home in LA that hasn't been remodeled since 1945. I hope he leaves much of the vintage look to it and doesn't destroy it! The pics are FAB...

    Downton Abbey - I'm hooked

Any theories on what Thomas is up to? My guess is he's trying rid himself of his gayness by some horrific snake oil he was duped into (that ad he called about on the phone - "choose" your own path).

    Downton Abbey - I'm hooked

Excellent season premiere! But I'm getting so sick of Thomas and his schemes.....will he never learn his lesson? Sometimes he's human and likable, and then he turns around and continues with the bullying.

The Greatest Inventions of the 1940s

Actually I think inconvenience or annoyance is the mother of invention.

Dad Sent His Kids Back In Time (through vintage photos)

A cool dad had the idea to recreate snapshots in time with his kids as the characters. Job well done, I say! http://diply.com/trendyjoe/this-dad-sent-his-kids-back-old-america-with/48101 (there are multiple pages so scroll down the page to 'next')

1950s Teenage Girl Etiquette in 2014

I don't think insecurity and feeling like you don't fit in anywhere belongs exclusively to teens.....this kind of advice is good for people of all ages. Definitely putting these two books on my list. :)

    Downton Abbey - I'm hooked

I read something today that said season 5 would pick up 6 months after the events of the Christmas special....did we get the Christmas special in the US? Was that the last hour of the 2-hour finale?

You know you are getting old when:

You know you're getting old when music from the 80's and 90's are now considered "oldies". Sigh.

How do you keep your house neat?

It's hard to stay organized (and motivated) when working a full time job outside the home....at the end of the day all I want to do is eat supper, and relax on the couch. But I've realized that if I want to have a home I'm not embarrassed about, I've GOT to put in the extra effort everyday...

    The Monuments Men

I watched it on DVD a few weeks ago and really wanted to enjoy it. It couldn't make up its mind if it was a comedy or an action drama.....and sadly it didn't pull either off well.

Hotel in France - vintage 1930's

Would love to visit here someday! A couple remodeled a derelict hotel in France to showcase their love of vintage. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/article-2639450/Couple-passion-past-rebuild-crumbling-hotel-France-shrine-1930s-1940s.html

Long Lost Honeymoon Photos from 1939

I understand what you mean. Black and white photos, and even film footage, has a surreal quality to it and its easier to think of people being different, when really, they were just the same. Regarding WWII, there was a documentary titled "WWII in Color" done a few years ago that has lots of...

    30s Secretaries Dressing Inspiration

Are those......early headphones? Never seen anything like them before. But then, I never thought about where the term "headphones" came from either!

Men in the PR -- Poll (WOMEN ONLY)

I'm glad to hear it. :) I hope my question didn't come across as that I objected to it because that was not my intention.
