    It looks like I'll go with the cordovan color, as Ask Andy's color guide says it goes with everything except a black suit. No problem there. As for the stitching, I'm going to go without and see how that looks.

    I do it friequently when it starts to get colder. I personally prefer a vest when I'm wearing a tie; it helps keep it in place and (I think) makes me a touch more dressed than others around.

    Maybe not entirely. The main character, though a total nutjob, is very well dressed. About an eighth of the movie is dedicated to tips on style and personal grooming, so it's possible she was trying to compliment your looks and could only think of Mr. American Psycho as a reference point.
