Finds and Deals - Leather Jacket Edition

So glad this is too small for me. Few Taubers detachable collar seem to have survived, or not order, or just lost. I've had one older than this. Sold it. It was a beautiful leather jacket. This one does not say Horsehide. It is probably early to mid 60s, with this label, zipper, leather...

Vintage Outerwear: Threads of the Past

Star made this same, outlined D pocket for, Wards and JC Penney, also with the Kurland name. Given the similarity in the Alden/Kurland tags I would assume they made the Alden jacket I posted above.

Vintage Outerwear: Threads of the Past

I think you pointed out another memory issue! At least I'm consistent! I recall his original looked rather light weight. It did not seem to match what I received, I noticed, but just thought he over built the jacket. I do notice the heft of this Rough Wear Test. tomorrow, as a follow up I...

Vintage Outerwear: Threads of the Past

Another omg for the day! Yep, a Roughwear. I've ordered 2 factory new jackets. The first was a Lost Worlds Test. I had no idea what a Test was, but I liked the pictures he had of the original. It is the same jacket. That Grommet zipper is pre-war. My Test, he called High Test, 4+...

I'll take the 1st one please...this thread is replacing "the Books". thanks for posting this gallery of greats. It is hard for me to look past the 1st jacket. Jackets like this are discoveries for me. I'm not the hunter I use to be. I'm glad there are well eyed hunters out there.

    Ralphs-Pugh Company

Wow! and Wow again! Breaking News. The jacket alone, by any maker, is an outstanding jacket. To uncover another piece RP history is icing on the cake for this jacket. Pretty sweet just to find this connection with Lawrence Leathers. I was just raving about this company, proclaiming them...

    Ralphs-Pugh Company

Wow and Wow! This will fit you? It sure fits in as another member of the Top Notch club. It was an incredible jacket, now more note worthy indeed. Even the bay pictures showed a quality leather. I never thought of Ralphs-Pugh! This is no doubt their unmistakable Steer Hide. Amazing...

Vintage Outerwear: Threads of the Past

Many variables affect the long term condition of a jacket; wear/care, too hot/too cold, too dry, sun burn. The difference is in the quality of the leather, when I say quality I'm talking about the tanning process as a whole. This degree of quality is the difference when all the variable are...

Vintage Outerwear: Threads of the Past

You really have to go jacket by jacket. This jacket is so nice because it has not been worn much. No mystery really? Many Harley jackets are worn out because of plain wearing them as intended., same with Buco. You either worn them out or you didn't wear them. You see both in these popular...

Vintage Outerwear: Threads of the Past

I asked myself the same question. Each jacket tells a different story. The style of jacket the era of the jacket. A of variables. Wear Original Quality Storage I'm at the point where I expect certain jackets to wear a certain way. When a jacket responds, out of the ordinary, then I...

Vintage Outerwear: Threads of the Past

What a Beast!! You could not sit in a car or airplane wearing that hide! I had no idea Star/Cal made jackets in this style. I do have a heavy sheep lined barnstormer and they are built like for the elements. These jacket were hugely popular in the 20s and 30s. 1930 Sears Roebuck catalog

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

First of all you are welcome! The jacket looks perfect on you. That is is a great compliment to you and the jacket. I can take little credit for the jacket, I just sold it. I can say this. I have a collection of the "originals" and this jacket holds it's own in many ways, not just price...

How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

I've never owned a Military contract A2. This one looks in better shape than most. I'm looking forward to hear/seeing more. I do own a Roughwear Civilian A2 made during the war with a Hercules label.
