I can speak very highly of ATF. Great people to work with. If you have a question they can answer it. Shipping has always been fast and the workmanship outstanding. I have their summer 1941 field jacket and enjoy it. Everything I have purchased I have been exceedingly happy with.
They look a lot like the ones from my zoot suit. If yours was banana yellow with red pinstripes they'd be near identical. Mine are high waisted, super wide with a dramatic taper starting at the knees down to the ankles. Worn more like high waters. Matching jacket has exaggerated shoulders...
I have a teardrop in mine. The pictures are of a dry bash I put in. I later tightened it up with some steam. I also steam fit it to my long oval noggin. It hovers about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch off my scalp.
Luckily that wasn't my experience. I'm still in my 30's and look young. She wanted to know where I got my Fed IV as she wanted to get one for her husband. That was a heartbreaker. She was my type in a retro-ish dress.
I'm fairly new to adult hats as well. My normal brimmed hats are westerns and I don't get a second glace while wearing them other than the occasional dust cloud choking someone up. I started wearing a straw Panama and fedoras late 2022 and more last year and this year. I felt I got more looks...
Yup. I figured that the lack of response was due to a lack of knowledge. The mask was inexpensive and replaceable so experimenting with it was fine. Now I learned something and was able to share it. Win-win in my book.
Well I got my answer. Gonna put it here in case someone else wants to know.
If the paper mache is made with pva glue then it is moldable with heat. I took a heat gun and gently warmed up the sides of the mask and slowly bent the sides in and molded it to fit. Now it fits tight and comfortable...
I don't know what section to put this in so if this belongs somewhere else please move.
Coming up in about a month I have a Masquerade Ball and charity benefit I plan on attending. I have my outfit and a mask to wear. That's where my question lies. The mask I'll be wearing is a paper mache...
Saw this one today while out on the road.
Original Indian Motorcycle shop.
Windows were redone some time ago but the sign in original. Protected from the sun by a taller building.
Mind if I jump in with a question or two?
I'm needing to replace the wind trolly on my Borsolino. I'm having a hard time finding one. Any good retailers y'all could point me to?
Chester Cordite is a repro clothier. I've been very happy with what I have so far. I am looking to get a suit from them to.
I will also vouch for Revival Vintage. Nothing but good experiences from them. A bit lower quality, not at all bad though. Just a few odd stitches that work but aren't...
If it's just a logo for the brand. I don't care that much for them unless they're attractive. I like ones that display a love for a hobby or sport or the like. Something that has meaning. A trinket to have a trinket is gaudy to me. I have a pearl one I made from an earring I found. Sometimes...
Might consider heating a nail or other small metal object like one with a lighter or torch then use that on the thread. Keeps the open flame away from the leather and the heat will singe and seal the stray thread.
You could also dab a dot of super glue on the base of the thread with a toothpick...
