‘Wow’
Mr. Chapman is doing a great job and I am sure he deserves great success.
Some of his leather seems ‘pebbely’, has anyone else noticed this?
P.s
I have just noticed I am now a ‘familar face’!!
Good day,
From my understanding goatskin is more ‘water repellant’ than other skins due its specific skin pores. Though I have no scientific proof of this.
Although what does ‘water repellant’ really mean? Don’t think I have ever seen water been repelled from anything. Maybe it...
Sorry old boy, I was under the impression WW2 was over??
If a fella likes the jacket then he likes the jacket!
This could be offensive, if we do have any German menbers left.:offtopic:
James.
Lovely old jacket!
Very very similar to my pre-war Irvin.
Interesting about the different sleeve zips. It looks from the stitching on the last photo that the unmarked zip (same as on my jacket) has been changed?
Maybe for a 35/36 zip?
Wonder why the V panels are there? Interesting...
Hi Andrew I am curious, (I was once a tailor in another life).
When we replaced zips on leather jackets we used ‘walking feet’ and often ‘half feet’ so as to stitch close to the teeth.
Do you have such devices or did you manage on a standard machine?
James
Bit sore, but nothing we cant bend back, and the bike should be ok as well!!
Glad I was not tempted to wear an Irvin on the day!
Hope the hand gets better soon.:)
I have A2s for works and A2s for when I am not at work,
Indeed I have A2s for summer work and summer play and winter work and winter play!! (So I don’t feel like I’m at work when I’m not, if you see what I mean?
The Winter A2s are bigger (Room for more layers)
Then the Irvin’s...
Yep, too big!
When the average chap is dragged out shopping by his partner this is the sort of fit you would expect to see.
High street fit in other words!
If you feel it’s wrong then generally it is.
I am sure Aero will sort it if tell them it not the fit you are looking for. I...
Of course,
I buy A2s from England and Scotland, so why not?
I agree if they offer an early pattern and sort the zips they may be on to a good thing.
There may be a lot of interest in Sheepskin when that Dam film is released?
Good luck to them.:)

New old G1!
Here is my Pals G1.
It is from a batch of I believe was 11 jackets, all 1942 issue, stored and unused.
Lucky find I think.
Jacket now being worn occasionally which I think is great.
Has some packing creases which are slowly coming out with wear.
Must...
Another Irvin on order!
Hi Chaps, hope you are all well.
The 35/36 Irvin: fantastic, but can’t really wear it for work, I think it deserves to be semi-retired at its age.
The 70s ALC Irvin, turns out it’s a bit small but it looks great on my girlfriend.
Still need one for work, so...
Good evening,
I am bang on a 40" chest and 5'9". All my A2s are 40" reg. As you can see from my pics this Irvin fits well (Well I think so!) So I would say its a 40 regular.
For your information I have taken some measurments:
Under the arms zipped 22 1\2"
Shoulder seam to Shoulder seam...
Thank you both for that information.
You sure do know your jackets!!
Admitting that I have a lot to learn, can I ask what are DGL and IAC’s?
I’m guessing they are WW2 contracted manufactures of the Irvin? Love to see pics of them?
James.
I thought I would drop in the lounge today and see if anyone would like to see my latest jackets.
The first is the 39/40 Irvin.
This is my first original Irvin and I am VERY happy with it.
It’s fair condition but the colour has faded in places, but it seems to have all the original...
Thanks for that,
At least I did not pay much for it.
I was sure it was the real thing when I found this picture:
http://www.thebadwolf.com/vintage.htm
I was also sent a hazey picture of a commodore standing next to Admiral Donitz wearing a jacket that looks, as far as I can tell...
