A common item on desktops during the 30's and 40s was the desk thermometer and Barometer. Its always good to know the temp and humidity range inside your office! I recently acquired this particularly nice "Air Condition Indicator". Many have corrosion on the backside or the chrome is flaking or...

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

I don't blame you there. I am always wondering when I'll be next. My oldest had their debit card hacked and $700 withdrawn. fortunately the bank could see how the transaction went down somehow and they credited his account immediately and issued a new card. pain in the butt and scary. I only...

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

now occasionally I receive a check and I do love my bank app where I can endorse it and take a picture of the front and back and it gets deposited to my account... another reason to not have to actually drive to a bank even if I get a check made out to me! very convenient. my last job the owner...

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

yes, it seems almost devil-may-care with the debit and smartphone app paying. I suppose if one wanted to challenge the charges the banks are covered and insured and willing to listen and take care of things. today's world has changed so much in that regard. I had a somewhat similar experience in...

    Show us your Pipes

I just received this 1944 Dr Grabow Supreme 9485 Pre-Smoked estate pipe. (Billiard Stubby?) It's most likely Mountain Laurel instead of the advertised Imported Briar. Lovingly used so I have a good bit of cleaning to do to it. (Sorry for my oily finger prints on it.) In decent shape just the...

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

a check book and cash. at least for me.... I use my iPhone and apps to pay online or use my debit card. some bills get autodrafted out of my bank account. I haven't carried cash on me in years. I occasionally find loose change or a dollar bill on the ground but it goes into a bowl and stays...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

cool! thanks for that info. I wasn't sure if they tacked it down with glue... it does indeed use small tack stitches to tack everything down. fortunately the slight dark staining is not as noticeable in person. for some reason it shows more in photos.

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Vintage Royal Stetson Whippet fur felt. (probably mid to late 50's) The grosgrain ribbon has what appears to be a darkened stain from perhaps the glue used to adhere it to the fur felt? otherwise the fedora is in fantastic condition. I found this cool cotton canvas waistcoat so I thought I'd...

Added this army green Tatum 70 Two hole punch to my collection. Works perfectly. Not much info can be found on this one but items marked Tatum usually date to the very early 1900s. The company changed hands a number of times and the Tatum punches landed into the more common Wilson Jones brand...

    Post New Hats Here!

Got my Royal Stetson Whippet fedora today. I spent some time with a steamer shaping it to my liking. a great compliment to my vintage 40s office setting. Although this hat is probably mid to late 50s. The hat itself is in great shape but a slight stain on the ribbon and the ink screened logo is...

Pants you wear with your leather jackets

I wear Bronson US Army 1942 Model Chino Trousers. I have two. Nice thick heavy weave and very well made. Not 100% accurate to actual vintage but I prefer the slightly modern cut anyway. Its much too hot to wear this get up right now but in the winter I like wearing a combo of L.L. Bean cotton...
