Ok, here's what happened.
Someone I knew was over at my house, and saw some comic books of mine he expressed interest in buying, since he knew I was selling them. I told him I'd already listed them on eBay, and that there were bids, and he said that was fine, and that he'd just pop onto my...
I enjoyed reading your post, but this particular point struck me the most:
I think people do the "support the troops" dance because it's the thing to do. They say it because it seems like a good thing to say. Am I some heartless, callous, cad of a heel if I don't support what they're doing...
You know, though ... I've seen lots of black comedians on stage making "you crazy white people" jokes, and getting tons of laughs from people of all ethnicities. If I went on stage doing "you crazy black folks" jokes, I'd be a racist, and most likely shot before I got off stage.

Examples would be:
"Well, I'm going to win anyway, so...."
So what? So...
Thanks, Tom. I really appreciate that, honest. To this day, even though we are no longer dating, she still sends me some sort of New York themed gift every year for my birthday. This year was a Yankee Stadium pin. I've been known to wear it on my tie.
I only said the Bill O'Reilly thing because...
I wonder the same thing. The last 2 elections I voted in, I was handed a "democratic voter" card. Why did I need one of those? What's the difference between a republican and democrat card? Surely they all have the same choices and candidates.
This is not meant to be rude, so please don't take it as such. I don't know what I can tell you that you haven't already heard or don't already know. We saw the first plane hit. In the ensuing chaos of people fleeing, she slipped and fell while we were running (it was difficult to really get...
