Yeah, I'm thinking he probably has a day job and his hat making is a weekend/spare time gig. He's fairly quiet during the week, but come the weekend, he's filling my inbox with messages and photos. And I'm good with that.
I have landed on this ribbon color and also nix'd the brim binding. I have opted for a raw edge instead. If the binding were a closer match to the felt, I'd move forward with it but ultimately, I felt I may have too many browns going on.
We're also in discussion of a frayed rear bow. Not quite...

This OR is from the OPS era and is sort of a gray with blueish undertones in certain light. It sports a 2 5/8” brim, not common in OR’s; not in my experience anyway.
