    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

For a moment, Brer Fox, I thought that was a Surrealist poem. We are of course living in surreal times. It has been a good day for wearing a Royal Navy Woolly Pully.

My place or yours, old chap? One place is a real city; the other is an overpriced village in the Fens. I am joking of course. Both of England’s great universities are excellent. Plus the London School of Economics and Imperial College for sciences.

Were you a Cambridge man? I was at The Other Place.

Absolutely. And it’s worth noting the solitary Rifle Green standing out among the myriad Olive Drabs. It has inspired me to wear my Rifle Green again.

A fine bunch of chaps. Gurkha recruits, Nepal, 2023.

A man after my own heart. … Congratulations on your prefect sartorial choice.

I wore my Royal Navy roll neck the other day as a change from WPs (aka Commandos). Also today my Navy Guernsey. Back to RN WP tomorrow I think.

I have also made good use of my WPs - over the past few weeks - and am continuing to do so!

This time of year can (underlined several times) be the best time of year in London and SE England when the days are crisp, bright and cold and there is a light frost overnight. The same is true of early spring and late autumn (Fall for you chaps).

It remains perfect WP weather and I have worn one every day this month! I see that there is a big freeze in large areas of the US, including Tennessee.

Happy New Year @Peacoat. WP weather here too. And the turn of the Black WP (Royal Tank Regiment!) today.

Just to confirm as I have now checked the website: the sage-like colour is still listed as Heather Mix.

@Peacoat : yes, the heather supplied by OKW is bit more of a sage colour, considerably lighter than Peat Brown but darker than Sand (the desert warfare colour). I have two heather WPs - I think the colour is actually called Heather Mix. One is the Patchless variety, the other is the standard WP...

Today it has been the turn of my Peat Brown WP. I think that @Peacoat has one of a similar colour (or color in US English)

Yes, mine is the same model as your 1977 version and they were a bit thicker back then. I have wool coats as well and have worn WPs under them. However a WP or Guernsey under a Barbour is often enough in our climate as it does not usually get as cold (or as hot) here as in much of the US. The...

I have certainly heard of the Tennessee Titans. Bad luck about Sunday. As I said, I find WPs perfect under a Barbour jacket for watching winter sports. And, when I played Rugger at school and university, I would wear a WP for the match tea afterwards, as did some of the other chaps. Today was...

Which NFL team do you support? I agree: WPs are great for watching sports in cold weather - or donning after playing cold weather sports .
