    Trying different knots on Neckties.

I always think of these knots as too fussy and busy. I'd much rather go with a wide cravat. Although it's crazy busy, if it's your style and you can own it... OWN IT!

What's the meaning behind your Avatar ?

My current one is from a shopping expedition I led through the streets of Beverly Hills. Just a crowd of retro dressed people meandering through shops. I'm in front of Brooks Brothers there.

    Vent holes: do they work?

Not significantly. Not enough breeze going through the hat to make much of a difference. They look great, they add a little to the breathability, but overall they don't give you a much much cooler head.

The Passing Away of John Erickson, Fellow Lounger and Friend to Many.

This just makes me sick to the heart. He was such a great friend. After his mother passed away he'd come over often to hang out, or I'd go to his house to listen to records. too many losses recently. This is just awful. He will be missed dearly. [url]http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=01CvXu7LnqI

Where do you see fedoras worn the most?

It's just the place to bring out your hat, even if it's been sitting in the closet for a decade, people always tend to buy or hunt for their hat for that trip.

This is why I like J. Peterman

Okay J. Peterman, what happened to the cool vintage looks I was always happy to see when I used to open your catalog? I used to think of your goods as the modern day version of Banana Republic (as BR changed to being The GAP). I'd also like to see something other than dresses on the cover of the...

    Alan Titchmarsh on hats

There have been much more in depth reports and stories and facts on these forums that span over 10 years of us wearers and lovers of headwear ranting, raving, reminiscing and studying. And going by the numbers and catalogs and information research brings forth. The Decline of the hat started...

    Bring me baggy trousers!

It's been a decade of this forum, and STILL the slim fit trend of low waisted pants reigns! I need some good off the rack BAGGY TROUSERS with a 13 inch rise and a zipper of enormous length.

Would "Raiders" have been as popular if the character had been hatless?

Would Superman be Superman without his cape? It was a time where the hat had lost all function for most people, outside of keeping the head warm on the coldest day, and even then the hoodie took precedence. Raiders is about the Great American Professor that goes on classic serial style...

Flattering laces flat: A tail of strapping on your shoes with a touch of panache

I think it depends on the shoe and how you feel about it. I tend to lace my balmorals straight across seeing as it can close the seam of the shoe entirely, but with bluchers I like to crisscross the lacing with the first lace starting from under as not to have it going straight across at the bottom.
