Vintage Borsalino Gray Beaver Felt Fedora Hat 1940s / 1950s Size 7 3/8

Items listed in the Classified need to have a price attached. I cannot see on the sweat band where it states it is 100% beaver content. Can you snap a picture of that and post?

    Hat making?? Learning Millinery..

About a year ago they advertised as well. Perhaps the pay is crap or the apprentice learned enough to set out on his own. Montana is a wonderful place, have spent a great deal of time travelling the state but only Spring, Summer and Autumn....because Montana winters are not all that much fun...

    Hat making?? Learning Millinery..

Montana is a great state. One could do worse. If I was 50 years younger I am thinking I would jump at this.

    Wolfbrae Custom Hatters

Ok, this is def not a fedora. It is a hat I made many years ago in millinery school. A blue, Tonak rabbit felt. 4" bound brim with millinery wire on the brim edge. It has sat in a box in my shop unfinished all these years. I dug it out and my wife trimmed it with a silk sari border -...

    Hat making?? Learning Millinery..

I cut the band block out of a 2" x 8" plank with my jig saw and finish with my table sander. Hooking up my shop vac to the sander cuts down on the wood dust. If I am making a few I wheel the sander outside the shop.

Contact Allan Walsh at WalshDesign3D on Etsy.com. He makes up band blocks. Not sure what he charges as I cut my own from wood.

    Hat making?? Learning Millinery..

I picked up one from him on Tuesday. I needed a #51 in a 62.5cm size to meet an order. The 3D printed items are great for fill in sizes for me. The price is great and the availability is super fast....especially as he lives in the same city as I do.

    Hat making?? Learning Millinery..

The topic of 3D printed blocks came up on a FB post yesterday and set me to making inquiries. The thread started out as a warning by a hatter that 3D printed blocks shrink over time and need to be replaced...unlike wooden ones. I checked with my supplier Allan at WalshDesign3D (Etsy.com)...

Here is cute little Derby made for a lovely lady. Winchester rabbit felt in a dark purple. Hand dyed grosgrain on the brim and crown. Thought the hat had enough colour so just installed a white silk liner

    Post New Hats Here!

I remember a few years back Optimo had a proprietary color they named Aubergine. Would that make it a mid west term?

First Post and First Panama Hat!

I ordered my PHD hat without a ribbon and without a sweat so I could sew on vintage ribbon and a quality sweat. I ordered a super fino and think the weave quality is quite good.

First Post and First Panama Hat!

Do they now offer leather sweats as standard? When I ordered mine about 18 months ago they only offered cloth sweat bands.

    Hat making?? Learning Millinery..

When I went to the shop down the street from me and asked at the office if I could go through their cuttings pile he gave me strange look and asked..."Why?". I explained and he replied..."Sure, take two or three"

Did men in the Golden Era wear black watch straps with black dress shoes?

I think this is very much a class issue. My dad who wore a suit to work each day owned two suits, one hat, two pairs of dress shoes and ONE watch. My parents lifted themselves out of Depression era poverty (my father's first job was working the killing floor of an abattoir). To have owned...
