I just came across this thread and it got me thinking about vintage watches. I may have to look into this. As for me, I have a Rolex Air King that I have had for about 30 years. It is reliable and I just had it serviced for the first time. I don't wear it often and I use it mostly when I am...
No. It is not to my taste. For what it is worth, and I know I am in the minority with this opinion, I am not a big fan of his architecture. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and one of his noted buildings is the Marin County Civic Center. I have professional friends who worked in the...
I just spoke with Tiffini Bell at Optimo. I ordered the John Lee Hooker in aubergine with a vintage eggplant ribbon (7 pleat shark gill). Should arrive around Labor Day
I have had a beard since 1978 and I don't think it will leave me. I have worn hats since about 2000 and I don't expect to stop. I see no reason to change my preferences and if others do not care for the combination that is fine with me. I am not in the habit of living for the approbation of...
I am trying to go through my hat inventory so I can wear something that I have not worn very often. I tend to wear about a half dozen hats on a regular basis and do not get to the others in my collection. With summer coming on I can also start wearing the Milans and the Panamas. Anyway, here...
I was looking through this Thread and realized I had never added this Optimo Dearborn in Black that I received in early January. I added the feather so if you prefer the hat without a feather it is easily removed. Personally, I think it makes a nice contrast but tastes are individual in this...
For your consideration, three pair of suede loafers from John Lobb. From right to left, the colors are labeled Olive, Blue and Green. I could not make up my mind so I ordered all three. The only problem with the shoes is that the sole is very thin so if you are walking on an uneven surface...
I contribute the following images to this thread. This is an Optimo in British Tan. You can see the diamond crease in the second image. Believe it or not, Graham Thompson made this hat for me at no charge because I had purchased about 15 hats from him at the time. I am now up to about 20.
I think I have posted this to the Optimo Southside Mobster thead but I thought I would repost to this thread. This is my Optimo in Bottle Green with the shark gill ribbon
I picked up these shoes this morning. This pair of shoes is Luciani II from Bontoni. I ordered them in December 2017 and they just came in today. Bontoni only produces 10 pair of shoes per day so it takes a while for delivery. I have 2 other pair on order.
This is an example of shoes by Paraboot that are made in France. Rubber sole and they go well with casual wear. I frequently receive compliments for these shoes and inquiries about the purchase. Good quality shoes last for years if they are well maintained as we all know
Welcome to the Lounge. I agree with the sentiments and advice given here. I like the hat in your avatar as it goes well with your face. In the final analysis you will wear what you are comfortable in and learn to ignore the critics. Just enjoy the experience
I usually post comments into the Hats forum so this is my first post to this forum and specifically to the Thread on "Show us your SHOES !!!" I must confess to having an addiction to shoes in general and that I own about 40 pair, though none of them vintage. I have shoes by Paraboot, John...
This is the first time I have contributed to this thread but I had one of those moments last Thursday that inspired me to write a response. I was wearing my Optimo Olympian Green fedora as I walked down the 300 block of Sutter in San Francisco on my way to Gumps. If you are familiar with San...
