  • Hi I've been looking for information on the Herms Leather Togs company and jackets. My grandparents(now deceased)won matching café racer jackets in a contest, in the 1950's. The female jacket is an xsmall made of Cabrera leather and the male jacket was buried with my gfather. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for yours? And do you know of anyone else who knows anything about these jackets?

Hi, If I put it up on ebay, I'm going to ask $350, the extra $50 is to pay for ebay fees. I can do that as a buy-it-now and give you an email minutes before. Or if you want to buy it here, directly from me, I won't put it up on it ebay, and I'll do $300 on it. Your choice. (And shipping will an extra $15.00 either way.)
    Cheers, Michael

I didn't realize there was a way to buy it on this website... How would that work? (Sorry I'm new)

Well the simplest way is just to paypal me the funds. And give me your address. I'll put it in tomorrow's post, USPS priority mail. I've done this before and it's the easiest. My email, and paypal handle is: technovox@yahoo.com. Or option 2- you can send me your paypal handle and I'll invoice you. Or option 3- I can just put it up on ebay. Cheers, M.
    Hey Techno,
If you don't mind me asking, what was the cost of having the tailor sew in a lining to your unlined jacket? Thanks!

I found a place down in L.A. that charged me $85- which was a bargain since there was no lining in the jacket, and they had to make a pattern from scratch. All other estimates were about $250 +.
I found that it's a big savings in price if there's a lining already in the jacket.
    Cheers!
Hello, I am looking for a more "high end" substantial leather jacket and thought Schott would be great bc almost everything is made in China these days. What is the jacket you are wearing in your profile pic?

Hi SJC, The jacket I'm wearing in my profile is a custom Buco J-100 repro in Shinki horsehide by Diamond Dave. Highly recommended- the best fitting jacket I've ever owned. And the Shinki horsehide is amazing.

I've owned several Schott jackets, and they've never fit me very well (except the rare "Schott/Restoration hardware" collaboration.) Be careful with Schott- some years the leather was rather poor quality, some years good. Hit or miss.

If you're looking for a heavier hide- then I would recommend either Vanson in a cowhide or Aero, either horsehide or cowhide.
    Good luck!
    Cheers
