Jean Peille homburg in black. Not sure, but i think it's pre-war. Great hat, came in a little dirty, but it was easily to clean and to shape. I think it's made of woolfelt. What do you think @Mean Eyed Matt ? One spot in the brim, but overall in a good condition. It's a great hat!

Love that one, Marcel. I would like to agree with the assessment of the two Steves that this is very likely a pre-war wool felt. Great find from a great manufacturer!

OK, we have a thread for German/Austrian hats and makers,
so let's have one for all those vintage Chapeau and information about the makers.
I know there's more than a few on the Lounge who have and appreciate the French hats.
We also have French and European members here, who should be able to enlighten us somewhat.

I'll add mine when able but let's make a start.
Let's see those Mossants and Flechets.

Lets go!

I realize that I am coming to this thread only a short 17 years after it was created, but this question on French Hatmakers has been a hot topic in our store. We obviously carry Laulhère, but I am always open learning about others.

I bought this french made hat "Macreure" for 10 euro's and don't know who the maker is actually. It is sold in Magasins Réunis, which is an old french fashion house. The hat is well made and very soft and malleable. No steam needed. So overall a nice find. I think it's from the 50's, early 60's, but maybe someone else has a better opinion.
