YoungTieCollector
Tie collector & enthusiast, with approx. 70 retro/vintage ties in the collection, ranging from the 60's to early 00's. I especially love more "modern" 70's to 90's neckwear from the likes of Dior, Yves Saint Laurent and Oscar de la Renta; but there are plenty of vintage pieces that are part of my collection as well. I love ties of all kinds, even of the wide variety that I can't exactly wear, as I view the designs, patterns and colors as works of art in a sense and cherish them for that very reason.
I view myself as the "land of misfit ties", because not all of my collection is 100% perfect in condition. I always try to find pieces that are in perfect shape, (All come from Goodwill, as I believe strongly in supporting their mission) but, that doesn't stop me from picking up the odd one with some stains and/tears. Perhaps it's me trying to humanize a piece of fabric, but especially when it's a tie I personally view as being special, I simply can't leave it in the store and need to give it a new home, instead of hanging in a Goodwill, where no one will be able to enjoy it.
Recently, I have strayed somewhat away from strictly buying "designer", think YSL, Dior, de la Renta and ventured into pieces of the 50's & 60's era, as those time periods are fascinating to me as a young person and through my research of my vintage pieces, I have learned more and more, what life was like "back in the day". Funny how a "simple necktie", can educate you so much.
Men of my age, it seems at least, don't care much for dressing up in a suit and tie, it's like a dying trend for us in their mid 20's. I have always loved dressing up, ever since I was a small child and will find any excuse to put a suit on, paired with one of my many ties in my collection. Hopefully through seeing me in a suit and a classic tie, young men will start seeing what a good suit and tie will do for a man..it really does put a bounce in your step and confidence in your heart.
