Between 2007 - 2012 I rode on back roads in rural areas of Central Illinois with the Honda Nighthawk 650. It was a great bike to learn with, very reliable and easy to handle, if a touch on the heavy side for a starter.

To me that more "tan" jacket appears like a standard "Bootlegger" (using Aero's term.)
From my original post, a long time back I think this is what they called it (original owner, purchaser) -- but it's a unique "2 jacket" mix, front of a Detroit & rear of the Oakland. (using the SB terms)

That said, I had completely forgotten about this jacket, from ~ 9 years ago. I really like the design and even the Bison leather, which, in honesty I found a little "different" to wear. It's a leather that didn't really seem like it was going to change...
To the OP this was much easier 5-10 years back. Seemed like Aeros, of sizes 42-46 were all over ebay, and often $350 - 700. Since 2020, prices have shot up, and they have become much more recognized, especially in Asia, so there tend to be a lot of people who purchase these and flip them -...

Glad you didn't; give up on this one. It' has a history & a story! My apologies that I ever tried to steer you a different direction. The smell will eventually subside, but it's his history you are wearing. :)
