I like the belt, I can see a lot of people not liking that model due that and/or the kidney panel

I bit more expensive that their other models, but not that far off like the White's boots was

Someone here has a couple of the first versions of this. Really nice jacket but my Johnson Leathers has my CHP needs covered well.

Beautiful jacket, I really like the uncluttered front with the brass zips. The drop back is fine... great for riders. The belt on the other hand is way too much in my opinion.

Yeah, i know, i just see it as more of a homage than an attempt at a replica

Yeah it's not a repro. One of Schott's guys (I've met him) daily wears a vintage Cal. If they were going to do a direct repro, that was right there.

This is another iteration of their James Dean foundation jacket from several years ago.

Maybe more of an homage to cal leathers? I love both companies and would certainly wear this jacket.

Looks somewhat longer on the body than Schott normally go for, or is that an optical illusion? Funnily enough, was just looking at the Cal site yesterday. Their LAPD a a really nice looking jacket, but with the strength of the dollar against the pound the price is too rich for my blood.

Being able to search for and find a Star Glove like James's... That’s where the Japanese market truly shines.

Here is his LAPD jacket, on display at The James Dean Museum in Fairmount, Indiana.

Maybe just the angle of the photo, but the body of this one definitely looks a lot more cropped than Schott's take on it. Interesting the original had brown mouton too; I'd always assumed black from the B&W photos!

Which would make sense, as Schott should be selling to a somewhat wide audience and most wouldn't want a jacket so cropped in today's day and age.

Yes, that could be the compromise they're shooting for. I love my 618's length, but for folks who like a "waistband" that's markedly south of the natural waist as has been the fashion norm for some decades now, I could see a slightly elongated jacket making sense. Be interesting to see the Schott version being worn.

Yes more cropped and the Cal's have a strong taper.

Which might be the problem for me, depending which direction it tapers in... ;-)
