That‘s a very nice looking hemp.Time to go outside again in the Peters Bros. Hemp. Love this hat. I
It occurs to me that a have a few hard-wearing and/or daily driver straw hats, but the fall season is fast approaching and the same can not be said of the fur felt varietals.
Most of my felt hats are meant to be pretty. Open to suggestions.
Peters Bros. Hemp courtesy of @Bill Hughes - still no idea why he sold it to me but I’m glad he did.
FYI, the inline photo function hasn’t been working from my iPhone for the last few days. Still works on PC. The little photo icon function at the top of the post. Photos are attached. View attachment 811041 View attachment 811042
Ooohhh back atcha Bud - sweet Strat
That 7X looks great, even with a soaking! I’m gonna break out my 7XCB OR for the Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddler’s Convention at Athens State University on Fri, Oct 2. I’m gonna take the woman to see The Isaacs perform that evening. I expect to see a few ORs that day! Oh, I recently re-shaped mine to a cattleman’s crease just for that event. It looks so good that I’ve decided to leave it that way.I went with the 7X. It is my brother getting married, so might as well wear my best!
Roll Tide! (even if I do have a degree from FSU...)

Freaking AWESOME story, Josh! Kudos! (And a d a m n e d nice hat!)It was a dark and stormy... 4pm EST when Theodore Pemberton III entered Phipps & Wetherby, Haberdashers, carrying his late father’s Stetson One Hundred.
It was 1965. His father had left him a respectable portfolio, several firm opinions about labor, and a magnificent hat purchased a few years earlier for inspecting western investments through automobile windows.
Theodore wanted to be Bob Dylan. Unfortunately, he looked like someone sent to purchase Bob Dylan’s publishing rights. He wanted coffeehouses. A guitar. A woman who would describe him as difficult rather than eligible. He had begun writing songs about working people, although he had not yet met any socially.
The hat was an obstacle.
“Two inches,” he told the hatter.
Mr. Phipps had dressed generations of Pembertons and understood that their rebellions generally required skilled labor. The blade went around the brim. A ring of exceptional felt fell to the counter, taking several generations of paternal authority with it. Steam erased the old crease. Mr. Phipps pinched the crown, snapped the shortened brim, and added a narrow ribbon binding. The result was an aristocratic western hat surgically prepared to have opinions about society.
Theodore turned it over. His father’s head had polished the leather inside. He ran a thumb along it, then put the hat on.
In the mirror, he looked almost self-made.
He paid with his inheritance and stepped into the rain, ready to sing about the evils of accumulated wealth.

Great googly moogly! What an amazing hat, Alan! Here is a Borsalino cowboy style of city dimensions... the model name seems a variation of the popular bound brim western L'udoela that recalled the Stetson Stratoliner and Open Road of the same era. This hat is about 75 years old, more than a decade earlier than the release of "Fistful of Dollars."
