Just got this Beaver Brand 5X Homburg, not super old (2006) but for my first Homburg I’m pretty happy with it. I will say for a 7 1/4, it fits big.

Penney's Marathon 3x X quality came in. I was thrilled to find one here in the netherlands. No lining, no hatbow (sparebow), no label. Is it a good hat? Yes it is! Great color also. Am i impressed? No, totally not, i have much better hats. Am i gonna wear it? Yes sure, after steaming, nothing wrong with this one. If anyone can date this hat, please let ne know......

Edit: steamed it a bit and changed the crown a bit more to my liking. Centerdent and wider pinch.

Just got this Hufvud in. I like these guys. According to the eBay ad it's a rabbit/beaver blend. I could probably ask Hufvud - it's only about 5 months old. There is a little dent in the felt right by the ribbon, which is odd. If any of you guys that know how to work on hats have any suggestions as to how I can massage that out please let me know. I didn't notice that in the listing. Other than that this hat is in pristine shape. I love the shape of this hat, the color, brim ribbon, chunky crown ribbon - all the way around this is a good looking hat, in my humble opinion.

These guys make cool hats - Hufvud - I'll see if I can figure out what model I think it is later

Is that just a dent in the felt or a cut of some kind? if its a dent, some steam and an abrasive bush of some kind, like a nail brush, going over it lightly may bring the nap back. For bad spots, I have also had luck with mini wire brushes bringing the felt back. All of my experience doing this is with dark felts, however. Don't rely on me to be the last word on a light felt like that one.

Looks like a mark from sitting on a hat ring maybe? It doesn’t look torn right? You could hit with a little steam and turn it over on the crown until it cools so as to not alter the brim shape, that should help it to smooth back out.

Just a dent. It definitely isn't visible in the eBay pics, and I don't see any way it could have been created in transit, but ah well, such is life.

I may try the steam and brush thing - it doesn't hurt my feelings too bad in actual wear.

Very cool - I want one of these. How do you like it? How does it compare to your custom hats?
I love it, I keep playing around with the crown crease and the brim shape, lol. I flanged it to a snap brim last night and think I’ll keep it like this. Feels about like. Midweight rabbit felt to me, very nicely pounced and has a nice soft hand despite being adequately stiffened. I’m a big fan of Akubras.

There is definitely a lot to play around with in the Fed IV hats. A great hat to have, play around with and wear.

I had a similar dent in the brim of one other hats from the bay. Steam and a some brushing to fluff it. Check closely while you brush to figure out which direction is best.

Had another hat that was supposed to come today, which is now going to come tomorrow while I am MIA. Then this morning I discovered that I’ve got a custom hat inbound - also coming tomorrow.

Sigh… the number of hats that arrive on Saturday for my wife to bring inside for me definitely doesn’t track mathematically - I wish I could turn off Saturday mail delivery. Lol

Same, except mine all come to my office and we have no Saturday delivery. My Mondays are fun though. Was waiting for my last hat to arrive today, as I am leaving Monday to return to Jerusalem for a spell. Looks like it got pushed off, so now I know at of least 2 hats waiting for me at some point in October. Nothing I can't live without, but today's would have been fun, a nutria Lagomarsino.

I’ve been keeping an eye out for anything in Nutria for a bit - will be nice when I find one.

If she doesn't see them delivered I'll leave it out of the box just to see if she notices it. So this Sears hat is similar in color to the Hufvud hat and she hasn't noticed it yet bc I leave this hat where the Hufvud was sitting. Lol

If I can get them out of the box, we are fine. For some reason she has a stronger reaction to a box on the porch than a new hat magically appearing on my head lol
