What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

RBH

Bartender
Today: an unlined "LL Bean" Labeled on tip logo and sweat.

Felt is really nice on this , has a suede finish and super soft (the whole hat) fur felt. Rich chocolate brown with a nice contrast to the ribbon. It arrived open crown , but is fairly short at 5 3/8". Still, creases as I like and has a great hand. Brim is 2 3/8 so not too bad. Being unlined it is better to wear in this warmer weather. Not sure when this one was made or who made it......but it is very well made. Not as intimidating a hat as I usually wear , but still a nice thin ribbon.........;)

Stetson made a thin ribbon\bound edge hat for both Cabelas and LL Bean.
The Cabela hat was labeled a Three Forks and the LL Bean was a Moose River.
Labeling it a G u n Club came later.

Borsalino Gran Marca "Castoro" ** today.
I will list this on eBay in a bit, but I forget: what age is a Borsalino that has a paper tag that is perforated on both sides, like this one? I vaguely remember 1930s, or am I being fanciful?
The tag also reads RUTENIO (the color, I think) C. NERA (ribbon color black) and GULAELA

Astor Hat - Astor Hats of Distinction. I’ve had this one a few years, but never really found out anything about this brand other than both @BobHufford and @drmaxtejeda both own one those theirs likely a decade or so earlier. All of them appear to have been sold in different dept stores of sorts in different parts of the country….. so the likelyhood of it being a specific house brand is unlikely. And it doesn’t really have the hallmarks of any of the usual suspects for private label type houses. Leaves me wondering if they were a lesser known manufacturer that seemed to live at least a few decades.. or possibly a house brand of one of the private label houses. all that though leaves it fairly surprising that so few have turned up. Whatever the case I absolutely love this one in a lighter weight OR/Stratoliner kinda styling. The do always find interesting the Astor name which made its original fortune in the fur trade before becoming real estate magnates in the early part of the twentieth century. Probably no connection other than a smart marketing choice.

Yes, mine's green. The pictures don't do it justice. It's in Mexico, so I will take better pictures when I get home
