First and most important, I do NOT think this is a genuine leather jacket by East West Musical Instruments. However, it is still a very nice quality jacket I would definitely keep and wear if it was only my size.

The quality is quite nice with the leather being soft. The liner is perfect. It does not have the "plastic" cheap feel to it as some mass produced jackets from the the 1970s.

A genuine size 42 East West Musical Instruments (EWMI) would be much smaller. Although there is the tag on the back, there is no leather tag stitched to the side of jacket. I could not find an image of this tyle when i researched EWMI jackets. It's hard to imagine a jacket from the 1970's to be in such a well-preserved condition as this one. These are the reasons why I do not think it's a genuine EWMI jacket, although a very nice one in their style.

This absolutely 100% is a genuine E/W jacket. If it were one size larger I would kept that to myself and snatched it from you. They used these tags in the late 70’s-early 80’s before the company went out of biz.

The leather feels very supple and the stitching, etc also of the same quality. But I don't want to say the one I have is genuine because I really don't know. I have 4 other EWMI jackets and the leather feels the same but they all in "vintage" condition and much much smaller, despite all of my EWMI jackets are all size 42. (my EWMI jackets size 42 fit like a size 38.)

Do you know if they used this tag exclusively and omit the leather tag on some models? Mine does not have the leather tag. If mine is a genuine EWMI jacket, then I have to say it's the most well-preserved used jacket condition I've seen.

The cloth tag did in fact replace the stamped leather tag that was usually on the jackets inner facing. It’s not unheard to find vintage jackets in this condition. I have an unworn Lee Gemini from 1976. It’s rare but not unheard of! I think unworn denim is actually less common as the material itself simply isn’t as robust.

But back to your jacket, yes it is an East West jacket, and it does appear essentially unworn.
