Today at 1pm EST, Fedora Friday #30 examines the powerful storytelling and timeless style of "Fences" (2016). This episode explores how understated headwear becomes a defining element of character and era, as Denzel Washington as Troy Maxson anchors his presence with classic working-class caps that reflect dignity, struggle, and resilience, while Viola Davis as Rose brings emotional depth to a world grounded in authenticity and lived experience. Set against the backdrop of 1950s Pittsburgh, every garment and hat choice reinforces identity, routine, and the weight of personal history, proving that style does not need extravagance to leave a lasting impression.

Hey Luke, just started watching this video and I think it's really interesting.
I'm familiar with Robert but I don't know your other two guests. Could you post their respective websites or social media handles?
I'd also want to add as far as this niche subculture of wearing hats I feel is growing. Maybe it's just my algorithm but I'm seeing a lot more 'hat artists' popping up on my feed who distress or decorate their hats in a specific fashion or theme.
Also, I made a bet with my wife that in the suburb that we go for dinner that we'll see another person wearing a hat besides me by December this year. The wager is one of us will be able to get an extra Christmas gift.
I appreciate the great content. Let me get back to the show.

I feel pretty good about it. I mean I came into it by seeing a shop owner wearing a fedora that I liked seeing on him. I bought that hat and that was the gateway into other makers. If I as a non hat wearing person can become one, I think it's possible to sway others into becoming more interested in upgrading their baseball caps into proper headwear. Especially at restaurants or lounges that have cloth napkins vs paper.
