I have ordered several sb. And have been happy with them all. I think there patterns are better than aero because the aero is I tried were more constricting. I tried a hwmp and was surprised about the constriction. I have a sb in lux that I absolutely love. They have a variety of patterns, good leather, an good hardware View attachment 354641 sb - riri zip- lux hh. Heavy teacore
Great fit found here!

Thanks brother! We both know j max shinki cr is FIRE! I hated seeing it go but the forearm was to tight on me,eeeek

You and Ton321 and your damn monster forearms!! LOL
May JMax enjoy a long life with that beautiful shinki. The closest shinki to that SB British Cafe Racer has actually been my Freewheelers Mulholland. Not exact but close.

Not a fan of the overly pronounced teacore effect, but otherwise a FANTASTIC looking jacket. 10/10. Looks like it has a pretty nice waist taper as well?

They are good value for the money, in particular on the used market (if you are buying, these don‘t fetch much at all when you are selling). However they jumped the shark for me, when they added VAT on my order on top of the price displayed on the website. Like come on, who lists prices without VAT on a consumer-targeted website and without any note about that either? Appeared like a random 19% upcharge to me which ****ed me off. Never went through with the order, never contacted them again.
What they did was absolutely ridiculous. I’d say they breached the consumer laws.

I have three Simmons Bilts currently and have owned four. The fits are/were all excellent and do not hang on the neck. Great selection of leathers. For the price, I think they are hard to beat and Debs is brilliant to deal with.

I have had nothing but problems with Simmons Bilt, just a bunch of my time wasted.
E-Mails simply ignored..
All I wanted was to buy a ranch jacket off the rail.
I spent my money elsewhere & Im glad that I did.

Debs promised to make me a jacket,I gave her measurements & a deposit.. a year later I asked where it was & she just ignored mybe mails.
Another while on I tried to buy one again off the rails & the deposit was taken then a month later Debs e mailed me saying she had ‘had to cancel the order’..
So maybe she just likes you more?
Im always super polite.
Then i saw one over in Black & Blue & bought it & customs just held it for a month while accusing me of needing an EORI number (I told them im not a trader just a person trying to buy a jacket) they tried again & then sent it back to Black & Blue.
The old dude at B&B couldnt be bothered to send it again by normal mail, after assuring me that he would ‘try’..
I plumped for some better jackets instead-their loss.
And a funny way to run a business.
I just felt I should add my experiences with her, which were all negative,to balance the picture you are painting of her..
I waited so long for that jacket only to be treated that way & My intuition told me she enjoyed messing me about.

People seem to have varying experiences. I think that SB is a very small workshop compared to some of the other makers. A few years back I did experience a lapse in communication when I was simultaneously trying to order a jacket and having things lost in the mail to Shanghai while trying to pay off an horrendous HK tax bill - I think my postponements caused SB to drop communications in favour of orders that were more consistent.

Personally, I prefer Aero for the most part. I’ve never had anything but stellar service from them over 16 years, but there are SB designs that I really like and they often have a wide selection of leather - it’s a pity to hear that it didn’t work out with your order. SB gets a frequent bashing here, so I am, perhaps, lucky. Regarding tax/duties, I don’t know: Hong Kong doesn’t levy import taxes or duties.

I have 2 Simmons Bilt jackets.
Both bought "off the rack" no custom tweaks.
J100 cafe in Black goat, 2 way RIRI zipper.
4 zipper pockets. 2 chest 2 hand.
Nebraska also in Black Goat.
I am very happy with both.
Amongst my faves.
Deb fine to deal with, always courteous.
Wore my J100 today, "What jacket" thread.

Right, yes Aero I have dealt with Aero,I had to get my chips jacket made four times before it was half right..
Dont mean to sound negative I usually have only good things to say, leave kind reviews etc..
Ive got my friend breaking in one of those blue-ish leather jean jackets..
I think Im finally content jacket wise & Simmons Bilt was the only really bad company out of a great many-I wont list them all here but I was searching for that one grail jacket & ended up with loads, some I will have to put up for sale on e bay..hopefully thats not too much of a chore.
Black Bear,Master Supply,I&R & Filson,Eastman,Y-2 ,Cocpit USA & others only friendly, good relations /service with 98% of them only good things to say.
Aero I did not really hit it off with,I read on here about how great & helpful they were but despite the thousands spent,I felt like I was a bit of an annoyance to them.
But only Simmons Bilt really mucked me about & seemed to enjoy it (also Simmons Bilt Stockist Barry at Black & Blue).
Mentioning it on here made me feel better..
I mean, after all why cant you just take my money and post my jacket?
Why the need to lie & say they cant be bought off the rails, if thats the case why does Barry at Black & Blue sell them off the rails?
Funny way to run a business.

I am surprised Aero went as far as four remakes for you.. Maybe the people at SB sensed pleasing you would be challenging and decided to pass? At four remakes, any maker is going to go lose money rather than make a profit, which is no way to run a business either..

That being said, I wasn't there to judge. What matters most is that you did end up with jackets you like. You are most welcome to post pictures of those. Which Y2 jacket did you buy? They make some stunning pieces

Simmons Bilt website in the past have jackets for sale "ready to go".
Sold by chest size from memory.
42/44 etc
Obviously you could not choose
Leather type
Leather colour
Zipper type
Pocket location
Etc etc, as they were made already.
Worked for me, perhaps I am lucky to be "everyman" shape and size.

Yes four remakes is ridiculous. For my last Aero I was confident with my measurements, I told them what I wanted and they got it right first time.

I have only ever had one fit issue with an Aero. I am very impressed with them all round. I think I am less concerned with a perfect fit than some folks, though; unless a piece of clothing is way off, I’ve tended to find that things look ok after a few months’ wear.

Hi again fellows,
Yes four remakes is ridiculous..I gave detailed measurements but each time the jacket was overly restrictive under arms etc.
So my little brother had one,he is slightly smaller..
I gave another to a mate who e bayed it to someone stateside (Im in the UK) & they returned it so he was liable for the import tax lol (karma,stupidity..?)..
Maybe it was three..could of sworn it was four, cant recall the details atm
In the end I have one,a keeper, moleskin pocket lining, inside pocket etc but if I untied the sides its a lot of material ..its not perfect but I like it.
Oh yeah the last one I had the red wool backed rayon quilted lining, corduuroy sleeve lining..the others had heavy cotton drill..
I felt like I was a nuisance but I was reading on here how people had these fantastic relationships with the ladies at Aero..
Could be Im mildly autistic & not great with people, but Im always polite & friendly.
Got a nice Warnorm submarine jumper off them & some expensive coat hangers..
No problem with Aero at all..the blue horsehide jean jacket my friend sleeps in it trying to break it in I expect it will look great at some future point.
But this is a Simmonsbilt thread.. I really had my heart set on that ranch jacket, it had shearling on the inside but the outer was roughout steerhide.
Settled for the Y-2 one anyway as I say,got some to sell or swap & some to keep..
Maybe going a bit overboard on the jacket thing is why the sb ranch jacket got sent back to sender in Holland (B&B)- they twice accused me if needing an EoRI number, perhaps they thought oh hes bought a lot of jackets, therefore he requires a traders eori number,
I replied that I didnt, since it was a private purchase of one jacket..
Guess someone upstairs decided no more jackets for you sunshine.
Anyway,love this forum..love roughout..
Will endeavour to not buy any more jackets..
Swapsies only
