The past several days have been a little too exciting, stressful for me but likely much worse for the deer. Unfortunately the car is totaled. Fortunately, I’m fine but for a bit of whiplash. The hats in my car survived.
The ones I wore were my Texas Hatters Brisa weave Cuenca bowler, Resistol OR clone, Hornskov custom and my Nathaniel’s Hatters Rio Grande in steel blue. View attachment 782389 View attachment 782390 View attachment 782391 View attachment 782392 View attachment 782393
Great lookin' string of hats, Jeff. Sorry to hear about the car versus deer incident. Those never end well; hopefully the whiplash resolves quickly.

F. Witzleben Leipzig, possibly 1920s. There is no company mark on the paper label but probably sourced. The Felt color is fantastic and the contrasting Band and Brim Binding work superbly with the Felt color. Also the F. Witzleben Leipzig company Crest is impressive on the Liner and Sweatband. I found this Stiff Felt back in 2013.

Going to be another wet day.. good time for a hat that doesnt care. This one was once a big Stetson "Gus" before a goat chewed a 1" chunk out of the brim, a tractor ran over it and had hydraulic fluid sprayed over it lol.. All things considered it cleaned up fairly well. Threw on a panama cloth band that was laying around and it now has a definatly more casual vibe... sort of a western-ish stingy brim. This one usually lives in the truck just in case foul weather puts a nicer hat at risk. Everyone should have at least one rough wear hat handy

Sunday afternoon, wearing a thirteen-year old Akubra Capricorn, bought new after the one I wore on a work trip to India in February 2013 (itself about five years old and worn heavily by that time) lost some stitching in the vented part of the crown and unravelled. This one has taken some beating and is still going strong. I'd have bought a back-up my now well-worn grey one at the time as well had I but known they were gonig to phase out the model. Polystraw - not to everyone's tastes, but once they lose the sort of sheen they have new, a nice hat with no worries about getting caught in heavy rain. The only real design flaw was the leatherette sweatband, which after a few years started to flake and leave bits on my head - I pulled it out and left the spongey bit behind in place, and it's worked perfectly ever since. The cloth sweatband on the new Wentworth hats that Hats Direct now sells at the price point these would have been is far superior in that regard (unless they were to go to the greater expense of real leather, though I suspect that would kick up the purchase price).

I'm inconsistent here. I'm sorry, because I have a lot of commitments and new hats to show you.
Pannizza Pelo - Cento 5.jpg

I can definitely say that between late 2025 and 2026, I was lucky enough to find and purchase a small batch of Panizza hats finished with long hair.
Pannizza Pelo - Cento 1.jpg
This is the latest arrival and fits me perfectly.
This time, the manufacturing instructions don't seem to have been applied; there's only a note on the lining that says: A86 Toppe 2 "It was probably made for the shop."
Pannizza Pelo - Cento 3.jpg
Panizza is the Italian manufacturer of finished furs hats par excellence, in the sense that the only ones with a consistent presence on the vintage markey are theirs.

This one has a medium-hair felt, with very fine brims and a much more solid crown.

The color is the one you see in thist photo. I hope to find more.
My compliments to you all for your daily parade of hats. They are my delight!
