Thank you for your kind words, Robert! It's definitely a hat that gets LOTS of positive feedback from people.

The dog is a puppy, still exploring the world with his mouth (and teeth). No hats go anywhere NEAR him until he's older and better-mannered!! :D
Definately cant turn you back on a puppy! Mr Bear has never shown ill will towards a felt hat, but he HAS requisitioned a Khaki ball cap and took it on a tour of the muddy spots of the yard lol ( ahh the joy of White Labradors and mud) even gnawed on the bill of this one a bit the other day

Max Wiese Berlin (M.W.B), Stolzf. Luxury Velour made for Leineweber Berlin, possibly early to mid 1930s. The steingrau / stone gray Upright Open Velour** is very dense with high gloss. Found this Velour back in 2017.

**Most difficult is the production of Upright Open” Velour because in this case a particular tightness / density and sturdiness of the hair is necessary and it is significantly harder to produce the same amount of gloss as where an entire, smooth surface displays. From: Hair (Haar) Velour / Real (Echter) Velour / Prime (Prima) Velour Fabrikation von Damen- und Herren- Filzhüten, Der Deustchen Hutmacher Zeitung (1933), page 188.

I may be repeating myself here Robert, but that is an absolute SYMPHONY of sartorial splendor!
Sartorial, what a compliment, thank you Mark. From the Latin that I remember from my schooldays, "sarto" is the Latin word for a tailor. The literal translation would be patcher, one who patches or mends clothes. The three piece suit wasn't around in Roman times but the word sarto has evolved into sartorial and the meaning of patcher has evolved into maker, or as we say nowadays, tailor.

Biltmore Zephir Hank-a-Chif. Where style and utility intersect. A 1940s light weight felt (by Canadian standards anyway) is a great rugged but stylish go anywhere kind of hat… that for some reason garners a disproportionate amount of compliments out and about.

Well, I'd compliment that hat every time I saw it, Joe.

Lovely milk chocolate brown, delightful shape, very supple looking sweatband with embossed Biltmore logo, and the liner, though somewhat faded, is vintage Biltmore.

Love it!

VERY nice, Joe! I've never seen one in person, but have always admired yours when shown.
