Berlin Gubener Hutfabrik, "Dogma" "Striegau", Wool, 57 cm, possibly later 1920s early 1930s. The Hat was sold by Hut Köhl Kehl am Rhein which is directly across the Rhein from Stroudsburg. The Wool felt is very pliable with high gloss. The "Dogma" brand / mark is very unique. I found this Wool Soft Felt back in 2024.

Hello all my TFL friends, life has been taking me in a different direction lately and I have not posted here in awhile. Most of my "disposable income" has been goings towards my newly found guitar habit, although I still nab a hat or 2 when they catch my eye. Them dang guitars are every bit as addictive as these old fedoras are !
Without further ado... I present my latest addition. One I looked for quite awhile for and am proud to have in my collection. Wright Constellation. Custom Built with 100 Percent Pure Beaver Fur.
Good seeing y'all !

Mandolins here but the addiction is real.

That’s a cracking hat by the way, nice find.

This hat arrived this morning, it is badged as a stetson sovereign and was made for Michaels of Kansas City. It is 7-3/4 and is said to be Luxuro Finish (and marked as such). It was sold as a wool hat but I do not know if it might be fur felt. Feels soft and similar to a felt. Anyway it was only $24 or so and I am completely happy at that price point. Brim is about 2 inches, hat band also 2 inches. Feel free to comment!

A dressy steady Freddy of the 1950s. I have a couple of forties and once owned a pretty marvelous Knox 100 but the Knox Twenty displays much of the quality and all of the style of its more expensive siblings.

Lovely Knox Twenty Alan and yes it’s not hard to see just from your images.
Your last sentence statement is a bold statement and got me to thinking about that.
It takes a while in collecting and only after handling many hats does one come to that realization but it’s true.
I’ve felt that Dobbs and Knox to be two brands in particular that really went above and beyond in making hats for the Twenty dollar hat man.
I still recall the day i opened the box of a Dobbs Fifteen, never worn, still open crown and the moment i touched it i said “Oh wow”! I was dumbfounded. It was so elegant and refined. I compared it to 100s and other’s of my best hats and came away with less awe of the high dollar siblings and smiled knowing those Fifteen, Twenty dollar hat guys got “some hat”.
Silly, my Fifteen still hasn’t been worn, not even creased yet. Didn’t have the heart to lose that “Oh wow” moment.
Thanks for the post Alan and your Knox Twenty is definitely an “Oh wow” hat.
The joys of hat collecting!
B

Ive always believed the Sovereign hats, particularly the Ultimate and Luxuro finishes were fur felt.... just too dense, soft, and smooth to be wool... great cool weather hats

Lots of great hats going into storage today, including this late-40s Stetson 3XME. This guy is a hat emeritus: I retired him a few years ago because he is just so worn out.

BTW, it is official: I am going back to trucking. In fact, I fly out next Sunday for Gary, Indiana to start a short stint as a flatbedder.

Within the next few days, my hat collection will dwindle to maybe five or six not yet in storage. It is so difficult to put these guys away. I will take the Northwest hat with me for flatbedder training.

Happy Friday friends.

Before retirement I would ocassionally wear an Aloha shirt to work in winter to bring tropical vibes to freezing days. It would always draw some comment about the hat not being a summer straw. I never told them that the hat is bespoke, made to measure for me by Gamble & Gu-nn of Devon.
Gamble and G make some very nice hats, had no idea they made bespoke! Good News for those with larger heads
