Great experience in the both the FlatHead Harajuku and Osaka stores. Very helpful.
Osaka 5 (Studio d'Artisan, Full Count, etc) flagship stores pretty standoffish and arrogant, unfortunately
Interesting. I had the opposite. The people at Studio D’Artisan (Osaka) were great both times I’ve been there. Same with Momotaro jeans. Iron Heart was closed when I went there on about December 28th or 29th for their New Year’s holiday, but the guy was working on his motorcycle outside the shop and opened up just for me. At the Flat Head, it was as if I wasn’t there, and it wasn’t like they were busy with other customers.

Extolling the virtues of a cheapo, mystery vintage leather jacket from eBay....

It's an 80s jacket (feels like a dept. store brand like Penney's, Wards or Sears) with the zip-out lining missing.

No branded anything on it. There's a number tag on the inside right placket and side pocket with the same info.
No idea what it signifies.

This one was $60.
"Brando" style, short body.
Tagged sz44.
26" long sleeves. Slim body. No footballs.

Super classic canonical 613 style details. Whoever designed it made all the right decisions, and I don't care that it's lightweight cow/lamb/whatever. It's already got some great wear, and seems like it's primed to get better.

This is a summer weight jacket for sure, but couldn't resist when I saw the measurements and price for it.

A real shame as I was really looking forward to visiting the Osaka 5 stores.
Staff were generally obstructive and aloof. Had to display some denim knowledge to get over the barrier. Felt a bit like having to do an entrance exam.
The FlatHead were a delight and rewarded with a few purchases.
Ah. I see. That’s difficult. I’d hope that people could feel welcomed right from the start. This business is for everyone. It couldn’t thrive without newcomers.

Hmm. That is interesting.
I’ll reserve judgement then

I have spent most of my free time in my workshop the past week, and been wearing one of my denim beaters which I haven't posted.
Mostly the blanket lined Big smith, but also the key saddle king when it wasn't as cold.

Today was a change of pace, and I went with the Lesco.

That replacement belt loop I made has lightened up significantly from when I first made and attached it so it's a lot more noticeable now, but I don't mind at all.
Sometimes a porposeful decently done repair that happens to stand out just adds character.

None. Shoveling driveway in temps in mid-'20s F wearing a couple of syn fleece vests inside an ancient Patagonia Gore-Tex rain jacket as a windbreaker.

Only two internal vests are fine when active, but insufficient if static.

Real sheepskin AN-J-4 and M-444 jackets too heavy and constricting for shoveling. Fine for use requiring less body/arm motion, such as simply walking around, or if mostly static.

Throw on heavy sheep and count it as a workout
