I did not contact the seller, I assumed final sale and that it was my own fault for not asking. The jacket still smells oddly strong of cigarettes. Like almost as though he smoked a cigar or left it in a smoking lounge in it or something. So bad that even after I took the jacket off my girlfriend asked me why I stunk like an ashtray. I’ve tried spraying with a light alcohol mix, leaving it outside multiple days and it isn’t really helping. I would say moving forward, avoid buying from cbass unless you are okay with jackets that are permanently going to smell of tobacco smoke. Which is why he never contacted Greg Field to try and return the jacket. Nobody would give you money back after you smoked in it like he did. I feel a bit deceived. Be warned TFL.
That really ***** man. Try the ozone generating device, hopefully it will help.
I guess this is also another argument against new members that come here only to sell items. Selling here should be based on trust,as it once was (with a handful of exemptions).

More so recently I've noticed new members diving straight into the classifieds, I come here for the craic, the banter and interesting stuff

I’m thinking of just taking it to a dry cleaner. That should pretty much deal with it right? The guy who sold me the jacket doesn’t have really very much interaction outside of the classifieds but his other sale, an aero, it did say “light cigarette smell”, and I just should have known immediately to come right out and ask…..I’ve learned a good lesson

Do this only if your dry cleaner has proven experience with leather, and more specifically sheepskin.

No—I wouldn’t recommend dry cleaning.

A very light solution of white vinegar and water should help with the outside. Since the smell is coming from the fur side, I’d try a few things:

  • Hang the jacket inside out in the shower, close the door, and take a very hot shower so the steam penetrates it.
  • Afterward, gently wipe it down with a damp cloth.
  • You can also use a very light solution of water and baking soda. Any solution you use should always be wiped off—follow with a damp cloth.
I’d repeat this process a few times. The smell should come out eventually.

I’ve had very bad experiences with dry cleaning, especially with special hides that cleaners aren’t familiar with. These aren’t regular department-store jackets, so they often don’t know how to handle them properly
