Being in Canada, it is more expensive (by a fair bit) for me to order direct from Vanson than to go through Bison. Looking at the used market throws up some of the same cost issues due to goods crossing the border.
I’ll keep looking.

Well my Model E just arrived from Vinted. Absolutely immaculate, this one is going nowhere, full metal zip,none of the horrible plastic. Now just need a collar

I need to find a source for the faux fur collar too, only I need the brass snaps! I tried to get Vanson to help me out and they just didn't get what I was trying to do. (wanted them to just make me one with NO new snaps and I'd place the brass snaps myself to match.) You should see the hilarious new "faux" fur they use, it's like fuzzy fabric. The two vansons i sold over the years had mouton collars, they where great. I think vanson do genuine mouton collar for the model E for $135.i would pay that no problem but it's a lot more expensive try to buy from the UK. I may try have a spare collar i have for a schott adapted, or,do a deal with someone who's looking for a new,unused schott collar

They are a cinch to have sewn by someone local, and mouton is cheap. That may be a solution.

EXACTLY!!! There are a bunch of cool ways to "shortcut" this process and match the snaps (and install) yourself. I even bought a leather sewing machine myself just to do projects like this.
I decided to go direct through Vanson in order to hopefully speed the process and damn the extra cost.
I changed direction and went for the Trophy in tan, and I'm not sure if this is the case with leather jackets too, but this is actually working out cheaper than buying from Bison by 20-30 bucks.
So, as long as it works out and fits I guess it's a win.

Vanson do a genuine mouton collar for $135,,the faux mouton collar is $65,,there's no comparison, I've seen both.i wouldn't buy the faux one.

I haven't been able to find much info on TFL about Bainbridge leathers and what I've found is mostly critical. I know @ton312 thinks it is too thin and looks like couch leather, but I'm curious what others think.
Most people around here rave about CXL's pull-up. Is Bainbridge too much of a good thing?
I, for one, love an extreme pull-up effect and have always liked the looks of the different Bainbridge hides. However, I haven't actually seen or handled them in the flesh. Do any of you have experience with them beyond Tony's, whether positive or negative? At the end of the day, I like what I like and won't easily be swayed by opinions, but I'd like to know if there are red flags or glaring issues I should be aware of.

I have a Oxford in dark maple bainbridge. It is an extremely thin leather. The upside is it requires no braking in. The down side is that its in no way hard wearing. Its probably my most complemented jacket I own and is extremely comfortable to wear but if I could do it over I don't think I would buy it again.

Thanks for sharing. TB claims it's 1.2 mm thick, which ought to be a solid mid-weight. I wonder if it varies from batch to batch or has other characteristics that make it feel less substantial. I've had thick leathers that felt light and thin leathers that felt heavy, for example.

It feels like the thinnest jacket I own. I own a 5 star hh jacket that is supposed to 1.3mm and it feels significantly thicker. I could just be a temper issue with the bainbridge being just softer. If you want a Vanson in a nicer leather I suggest Dels stuff.

Question for you guys: I want a jacket which is very fitted through the torso, and which lets me wear the collar popped. Which Vanson is best for me? My sense is that either the Oxford or the Mercury might be the right jacket.
Also, can anyone compare these jackets to the Schott 689H/688 in terms of fit, quality, and value? Thanks.

Del has definitely chosen some good hides.
I have a CW Chopper, a couple Butterscotch x Vanson collabs, and had a Commando for a while that I eventually sold. All have had great leather of varying weights and qualities. I can imagine a thin and soft leather seeming “off” on a Vanson.

All that being said the bainbridge in the sunlight is really striking. Its a pretty leather but not a leather you would expect when seeing a Vanson tag lol. The softness of the leather and the Vanson pattern make it extremely comfortable. It dosen't really feel like wearing a leather jacket at all for better or worse.
Any fit pictures of the Bainbridge jacket? I was considering that leather in an Aero pattern.
