Weather permitting, we are off to a classic car meeting later on today. Tina & I have bets on who will be the first to ask if Santa left his hat behind. There again, with the car in similar colours and looking it's best, my hat won't get that much attention.

What a beautiful car! A Riley-RM if I'm not mistaken.

All the same, your hat - and shoes - deserve respect. Which they'll get, just from a more select audience.

Thanks Stefan, the meeting has been postponed, we shall all be gathering on New Year's Day now. I didn't ask of the problem, it was probably frustrating enough after all the planning.

Time for a rehabbed 5x Stetson today. Sweatband was crumbling and liner was super grungy.... New soft lambskin sweat and satin liner sewn in so its good to go for another lease on life

Today I went with a bessemer gray Christy's fedora with a 2 3/4" brim. I got this one from the recent sale they held, and it does not disappoint. I also own an older version in the same color with a much smaller hat band and a 2 3/8" inch brim. The new one wins by a mile

Funny how the light affects your pictures! Day after Christmas I'm wearing a Stetson Heritage 4x Beaver of unknown age. It is BROWN, not the LOL orangish in the picture. I reshaped this hat (the other picture is how I got it; brown, not gray!). Brim looks bigger here than it really is (3 inch). Behind that pinch is a gambler-style round crown.

What I don't like is the braided cloth hat band; brown (which neither matches nor contrasts with the hat). I'd like to replace it, but I don't know which way to go. Horsehair in black and white? Leather with embellishments (or not)? Not any narrower than what I have, but this is not a candidate for a wide fedora hat band either. I'm open to ideas.

Meantime: Hope you had a great Christmas! Let's all look forward to a wonderfully happy New Year!

It's hard to tell that's the same hat in the 2 pics! I like the horsehair idea. Maybe a tri-color black, white, and brown or gray that closest resembles the actual color of the hat. Matching and contrasting in perfect harmony. Lol
