How do I maintain my sheepskin jacket colour and condition?

Good morning everyone,

I have this sheepskin jacket that I bought last year. This is my second year and being quite fond of it, I do want to maintain it.

The under arms, and my left shoulder (from the seatbelt) have a bit of the black wearing off. How should I properly take good care?

If you don't want the belt to leave marks, remove the jacket before driving...

Other than that, there is nothing to do, these jackets have a pretty thick coating that won't let much through, there is nothing you can apply to it to minimise seatbelt wear.

Where I rest my arms, and that part of the shoulder have a bit of the natural colour coming out.

Figured there must be a good product that you just put on to help.

My arms rest in the armrests, so not really much is happening.

Colour coming off at high wear areas is part of owning a leather jacket, you will not be able to fight that.

You are better off accepting that your jacket is showing the signs of you living with it.

Color fading is as easily reparable as it is inevitable. The coating of these sheepskin flight jackets is usually acrylic & wax based so Leather Sheen by Fiebing's ought to take care of it. But any wax-based leather creme will do the job.

You can also get a shearling seatbelt shoulder pad. It won't completely eliminate the wear issue but it'll slow the pace.

Here's an example. No clue why she's got one on her right shoulder, too. You can put them all over the belt in any position likely to touch a delicate jacket. They typically have velcro on the inside so you don't have to unbolt seatbelt anchor points, etc.

There are several vendors of same on Amazon.
