My first new hat in over a year turned out to be a real winner. I couldn't be more pleased with this Dobbs Fifteen unless it came with a wind trolley!

To paraphrase HJ quoting Paul Simon: we haven't had any sunlight around here in over a week (maybe even two?). It's beginning to feel like Northern Europe in Alabama. I had to manipulate some of the photos for visibility.

Mark and other FL fellows, thank you for your kind words.
I've always shared hats from my vast, if not very vast, collection for the past decade or more.
Last year, I almost completely stopped due to health issues.
This year, I returned to my usual recovery mode. In recent months, I've been back to full capacity, so I've resumed buying and displaying.
At the beginning of 2024, I completed my hat census with the decision to sell a good portion of my collection. Then something went wrong, and I found myself on hold.
I have to thank you and all the Fedora Lounge participants, whose appreciation has rekindled my desire to start over and supported me in times of need.

Very happy to see your smiling face and wonderful hats gracing the lounge more regularly. And most importantly that your health has rebounded. Slàinte Daniele.

Grabbed a Stetsonian off the wall this morning. Guess I really do need to work on that brim stain. Hats been here for several months and it hasnt gone away on its own yet lol

Continuing with the series of felt hats finished with short, medium, and long fur, here is a Borsalino Grand Prix 1900.

The felt color is "Honey" and the hatband is "Sepia."

Very malleable and soft, the felt has the consistency to stay in place.

The color is beautiful and changes with light and shadow, like all felt hats finished with translucent surfaces.
The sun helps to showcase its quality.

It is a size 6 hat, or 59 cm, or 7 3/8 in US. It remained in a box for a long time due to its poor fit over the years, and a few steam baths have restored it to its original size.

Thanks, HB. It is blanket lined but it’s an old Type III. I think they discontinued these some years ago. The chore coat is a good get and I like the Detroit jacket as well.

That's a great looking coat! I like that design with those pockets versus the patch pockets on the standard chore coats available today. Looks like much better hand pockets. I didn't know there was such a thing as a type III chore coat. I found a standard Made in USA one from 1989 on OFS and made an offer that was accepted. I figure I've put off buying one for too long and pulled the trigger. The brass buttons say 100 Years, 1889-1989 around the Carhartt name. I thought that was cool.

Well....today i was planning on pulling out one of my most special, Stetson did it ******* alright, wear only for something special hat, just to brighten up my day.
I was brushing it and noticed a thingy place, then a kinda unrecognized area and immediately went into “Panic Thought Mode”. Oh, who been messin with my hats?? Dog, hit the road!!! You know just regular hat panic.
Alas, i turn it over and what?? Oh yeah, it’s the little brother!!
Hippo digs the Hollywood thing!
I also answered my own question.
Yes, Stetson did make an Open Road 3X Last Drop. Duhh

The President - Multi-Felted

Here is a hat that was shared by Brent on his FB group. The President “Muli-Felted”. Curiosity got the better of me along with the neato ribbon treatment. In hand I can’t say I can shed much more light on what Multi-Felted might mean. It’s certainly a fur felt.. possible there are some other fibers mixed in. I’d say it is a bit thicker felt.. maybe a winter weight but definitely not a western weight. Hand is decent.. not the smoothest but definitely not a wool feel. I did not find any manufacturer tags under the sweat… though I did not dig too deeply to avoid damaging the sweatband. @DaveProc indicated it was most likely made by John W. Green & Sons of Danbury CT. for Bidgman's Department store as they patented "Multi-felted" in 1931. All in all it’s a hat with a ton of character. I love the ribbon treatment and I decided to adorn this one at least for now with this gold key tie clip. This hat served as my rain hat the last few days waiting for a nice clear day like today to get its pictures. It certainly had no trouble shrugging off the weather.

Echter Mayser "Superbe", date stamped June 3, 1950. The Black Felt has a very nice soft Hand. Lots of Brim flange on this Soft Felt. This Soft Felt was made for the München hat store Johann Zehme, Royal Bavarian Court Supplier. I found this Soft Felt back in 2019.

Mayser Miniature Hat Cartons, made by Zeitler - Karton, Murnau / Oberbayern. Last produced about 10 years ago. They are really well made and the dimensions (L x W x H) are approximately 4 1/4 x 4 x 2 1/4 inches. I found these Miniature Hat Cartons back in 2018.
