When I find an Albertini-branded hat, I'm always tempted to buy it because of its rarity on the Italian market.
Albertini Marron 2.jpg

"C. Albertini & C., Intra, exhibited numerous fine fur-trimmed felt hats for men. The company, founded in 1817, specializes in the manufacture of very fine men's hats and felt for hatmaking. It was the first factory to introduce the mechanical manufacturing system to Italy."
This one struck me as worthy of note for its workmanship and finish.

It's worth noting that the Albertini brand merged at some point in its existence with the large Panizza group, which had brought together the hat factories on Lake Maggiore. Albertini. Albertini set up or collaborated with the English hat industries (Stockport I think) starting from the 1950s.

This one in particular has an ultra-classic shape for Italian hatmaking. The felt is solid and holds its shape once formed. There's no label because the paper label is completely white, and the lining is sewn on. Therefore, it's a hat from the classic era of Italian hatmaking. It's a new arrival.

Thank you for your appreciation. I reciprocate heartily

Saw two Medal of Honor recipients. Oldest Marine present was 103 and had fought on Guadalcanal and Okinawa. When asked when I served my standard answer was "70 pounds ago." It was an awesome thing to experience (or re-experience in my case). It had been 40 years since I last attended.

The fedora is a Northwest Hats custom I commissioned last year just for this event. It's midnight blue with 7/8" maroon and navy vintage grosgrain ribbon. The brim is 2 3/4" raw. The bow treatment is based on the M1902 USMC campaign cover. We even added vent holes in the shape of stars the same as the M1902 cover. In addition, there is also two rows of stitching on the brim to kind of match the piping on the dress blue coat. So, this fedora has the colors of the dress blue uniform with aspects of the M1902 campaign cover. As a surprise to me Mike Miller put my rank & name on the sweatband.

BTW The young couple in the picture we've know for many years. I used to teach his 5th grade and then high school bible classes.

Yesterdays hat shenanigans included me breaking out a hat that I acquired early on. I saw on an internet site a Stetson Whippet for sale. I leapt on the sale as (early hat me) Whippets were coveted. I had acquired one and this would make 2! Sweet. Payment sent and the long wait for my Australian Whippet to arrive. It came finally. Yep came in a flat envelope. I was disappointing as I thought the hat would be ruined. Nope. It perked up with some TLC. Long story -shorter: I aquired an Australian Whippet small brim. A truly stingy.

Anywhoos, here is the stingy Stetson Whippet.

Bill, that's a PHENOMENAL hat, as is the explanation of its characteristics! Kudos on a TRULY special lid.

Yep! Wouldn't have made a difference anyway, I'm sure. He probably bid $1200 to ensure he won. I almost wish someone would have made him pay a grand for it lol.

Seen that game played around here before.
Another classic is a bidder keeps beating your bid up to your all in bet the farm bid then you get a second chance offer from the seller for your bid because the winner backs out.
Ebay shenanigans 101.
