Funny!
I thought, my Opinel No.8 Inox walnut wood would be the heaviest of my four, but the olive wood is the heaviest, with 52 grams. The walnut wood only 43 grams.

Classic carbone, always just watered and dried up. Of course rusted tang.

But I can still close it.

Does anyone know, if the Kids Opinel are same sharp out of the box?
AI says this:

Yes, the Opinel knives designed for children, such as the My First Opinel pocket knives and the Le Petit Chef kitchen knife, are generally sharp right out of the factory.1
They are designed to be real, functional tools, as a sharp knife is actually safer than a dull one because it requires less force to cut, which leads to better control.2
Key points about their sharpness and safety features:
  • Sharp Blade: The stainless steel blades are described as being "factory sharp" and having a "good cutting edge" to effectively perform tasks like whittling or cutting food.3
  • Rounded Tip: For safety, most of the children's models, including the My First Opinel and the Le Petit Chef knife, have a rounded or blunt tip, which minimizes the risk of stabbing injuries.4
  • Safety Features: These knives often include features like the patented Virobloc locking ring on the folding knives to keep the blade securely open or closed, and an educational ring on the Le Petit Chef kitchen knife to help a child position their fingers correctly on the handle.5
  • Adult Supervision: Due to the sharpness of the cutting edge, adult supervision is strongly recommended at all times when a child is using any of these knives.6
Would you like more information about a specific model, like the Le Petit Chef set or the My First Opinel folding knife?
