Been Lurking & envying all the hats but I never looked good in hats. Well, I revolted & am now into 3 Western Beaver X's.

First dive was a 6 7/8 6X Black Serratelli,

2nd A 6 7/8 Black Resistol 3X HAND CREASED that has the normal Resistol liner but has BR *** Beaver on the sweatband & a label with "Felt Headwear By Byner Rolnick Division of Koracorp Inc Suggested $162 / Suggested retail $25 Mark up 46%

Today in original box a 5X Palomino Cattle King 4 in brim in Sz 7 with receipt from Wells Boot Center Hurst TX dated 3/12/82 $75. Like New with a spot or two inside the liner. It's full of powder. I love the cool color. It was said to be Silver Belly or light gray. Needs a bit of spruce up in the steam crease dept as it's been in the box looks like for almost 40 years. Wonder how long it was in the store before it was purchased, F00730 seems to be a late 70's type ticket # from what I have seen. I can't find any united or amalgamated label in it. 1982 should have the former. Anyway gave it a punch to smooth the crown, little brush, steam & shape. Tall crown but I'm sure someone can get it to fit me better. Color is like the last photo.
Welcome! That’s a nice hat and looks great on you! The 5X is a very workable hat and the tall crown 7”? and 4” brim is a sweet spot for many different creases. You might try a pinch front telescope like this one:

Interesting note: Found a Resistol with same W300 marked Cattle MAN NOT CATTLE KING

My Cattleking is a 4 in brim & they aslo have a Cattle Man w a 3 1/2 brim with the same code W300
Crystal is similar to Palomino in color. I like Mist Grey too

Also found a Resistol CattleKing 4 in coded as a W270... the mystery continues...

Another difference I observed is my box has RESISTOL HATS BEST ALL AROUND printed on a brown label on the side. Other similar boxes have that printed on the box itself.

I love the hats as much as the history.

Here's a recent purchase. A Tonak-Huckel hat, size 60 cm. "Supreme Soleil" quality, and the color is number 81.
Huckel 4.jpg

I'm happy with its arrival because I make it a point to source hats from Central Europe.

They're often fantastic in terms of felt and workmanship.
This one, of course, has a heather felt that enchants me. The paper label is quite old, and when it's photographed against the wisteria, it will also appear, so Steve can give us more information about its production.

To make it stand out more, I used a matching jacket and sweater for a triumph of grays.

My warmest compliments for your hats, which are different and interesting every day.
Thank you for your likes regarding the French Berry.

Another late summer/early autumn arrival. The hat is sold without a size and with a brief description.

I tried to trust my eye. I know French hats well, almost as well as Italian ones, so I took a chance.

Well, it worked out. The hat remained on the stretcher for a while and is now wearable again.

From the workmanship and the components used (you'll see them better soon), it's a hat from around a hundred years ago.

The felt is light and very moldable. The shape is similar to other hats from the Southern European period.
As always my best compliments for your hats and thanks for your interest in mine :)
Fantastic find, Daniele. Really like the nice cup shaped brim.

Stayed with Homburg yesterday.. this time a Dobbs 15 as we went to the gallery reception for my high school photography teacher and His photography exhibition Two Hemispheres a juxtaposition of Iceland and Tanzania, Africa. Some very beautiful work And great to see my friend of nearly 40 years. I thought this little camera tie clip would be the perfect bling for the hat on this occasion.

Interesting Gray Heather. Almost looks like Mohair. Thinking about getting a Gray Lid myself but I don't wear much Gray.

IThanks, Knew there was a Cattleman but never knew about Cattle King. I had no idea what style or color it was. The price was reasonable & it was at least a 1982 5x Resistor in excellent condition. I was hankering for a Silver Belly type color. Thought it might be crystal but it's Palamino. It's a big hat. It was a 7 but I can take a small 7 & I wanted a hat that was deeper on my head for sun. I have a Black Resistol Western 55cm 3 1/2 brim & A 55 Seratelli 6X 4 in brim that shrunk to a 54 with a 4 in brim. Came with a box & now I have a color I like for the "summer" 54 fits higher up & 55 is OK but I wanted it to come down deeper. The 56 is a tad loose but I'm loving it. I have a square face so a bigger hat seems to just work. Plus a hat is meant to protect from the sun.

I'm not sure how it should be creased. It came a bit out of shape.
I think the cutter crown on the Resistol is KILLER! You don't see a lot of those that are as well done as that one appears to be.
