Made it through another week! Today Im doing my coffee run in one of my Dads hats. Its been worked a couple sizes larger and reshaped, but its his. Lets have some fun and see who has a hat from their father or grandfather that they can wear. Sort of a "live Show us their hat" exercise. Of course if youre a 7-1/2 and Dad was a 6-7/8... feel free to share too...( you dont have to put a too small hat on your head and look funny... in your hand, truck dashboard or on a stick is fine)

Yesterday evening was a straw hat opportunity. Our temps have been nearly 20'f higher than average. A Stetson Medalist Panama was just the hat for the job.

I enjoyed the dog soirre this morning under a Manor Hat sold by Peoples, IA.

Morning coffee under the brim of a Dobbs Leisure Light. This has the "Cavanaugh Process."

Royal Stetson ******* in Black is my lid for the day. This one has a few differences between my other 6 *******s and I thought I might point them out to see what y'all think.
First off is the most obvious to me...this one has a 1 -1/4" wide grossgrain ribbon hatband whereas all my others are only 3/4" wide.

Second thing I noticed was that the brim of the hat is noticeably thicker and stiffer than all the others. ( The crown of the hat is soft and molds easily without steam).

Last but not least is the lack of the fine stitching around the perimeter of the brim that I have come to expect from a *******.

My bespoke Susquehana, maybe I should have had it made in darker brown to compliment my suit, but it's a great fitting hat and goes so well with much that's in my wardrobe.

Todays hat was once a proud Stetson 4x western... by the time it got to me the sweatband was crumbling, and was more than a little dirty. Felt got a good gas bath and new sweatband sew in. Did some felt smoothing and threw on a nice braided horsehair band. Little bit of brim flattening and crown work and Im happy with it

Bowlers in size 58 and 57 are on display, sitting atop historic black and brown Huckels, owned by Steve, a great collector of Central European hats.
It's about time; some work is still underway; furniture and furnishings.

I've also started to buy something I find interesting on the used market, sparingly.
Super Flechet. Size 60 cm, or 7 1/2 in the US.

"Pilote" quality and "Caniche" color, if I've interpreted the slightly faded writing on the paper label correctly.
"Caniche" is a breed of dog, and some have fur of this color, but I'll take a closer look tomorrow.

The felt is magnificent, soft, and finished with a light, fairly shiny fur. Beautifully finished and sold at Breitner in Munich - Germany.

This weeks been the bi annual slew of Dr appts. Headed over to the cardilogist after coffee so I switched hats. This one a favorite Stetson/ Cabelas Three Forks. To my mind the dark olive green is such a sharp color. So far every Dr Ive seen this week has been thrilled with the lab results.....so I think Im getting ready to put on some shorts and go do another Ocho Tequila test out on the patio to celebrate. Probably going to fire up some good light english pipe tobacco and just chill for an hour or so.

My morning featured blue. Blue was the felt inspiration not the mood. My dog soirée was taken under a blue Stetson Flagship.

I enjoyed some cold brew under the brim of a blue JC Penny Marathon Air Command.

That sounds like a fun game, so I'll play! Both of the hats below were my Dad's, and both Stetsons. One straw, one felt. The felt used to be a cowboy hat, but I sent it to Mike at Buckaroo Hatters for conversion.

Too kind Mark, thank you. Today's weather has had me thinking about a cap, an umbrella is no protection against a strong wind. Twice I have just managed to grab my hat, in the end the hat stayed in the car.
