My absence began with an embarrassing tumble onto the deck as I was about finished loading my vehicle for the 3-1/2 hour ride home. Fortunately, all The boxes and especially the Cavanagh Milan (rear, center of photo) served to break my fall. The subtle dents left on that hat are now badges of honor, adding to its provenance.

Following a week of hospital "incarceration," (a decision made to keep me close to the surgeons in the event of sudden loss of all sensation below the neck) I enjoyed spinal surgery in the form of a “cervical laminectomy." Glad I could wait, as I got the "A" team from neurosurgery.
Imagine leaving home, thinking you'll be back in a few hours, and ending up being away for 2 weeks!!
ALWAYS wear clean underwear!!!

Every day’s a plus, folks!! In another 8 weeks I should be cleared to drive. WooHA!!!

Oh man! Charlie good to hear you are on the mend.

Hats are good for cushioning yourself when falling - sounds like an excellent prescription. I believe I can actually follow this prescription.

Most my Open Roads are snapped down in front or have more or less flat brims with just a touch of swoop down in front and back. The LBJ upturned brim all around makes my ears stick out and just never looked right on my head. Most have the cattlemans crease steamed out and replaced with a more fedor-ish couple of front deep side dents. Some have a center dent up top and some have a bit of a teardrop

For sure, Rick! Hat hunting or shopping is most therapeutic and very healing. My only deterrent is the warden, err…. Wife.

Bit of a mystery hat this morning... Its an Adam with sort of an Open Road vibe. 5" crown, 3" bound brim. When it got to me a while back the size tag was there but no other readable tags so Im not sure exactly what is was... possibly a Majestic? Sweatband was crumbling so it got replaced, and the cloudy plastic liner cover was removed ( black liner underneath was perfect). Did a bit of cleaning and voila! its a nice hat again

My interactions of late on TFL have not been as congenial as I would like them to be. I am slowing down my participation until I find better equilibrium within myself.

I am enjoying the hat parade however, and will contribute today with this JBS Twenty that I believe is from the late 50s.

A 2-3/8 brim is a real sweet spot for my head size.
