What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

This morning I'm going with a bonus hat that Bob Hufford tossed in the box with my recent purchase from him. What a nice surprise when I saw this sweet Dobbs Porkpie nestled in with the Stetson No. 1 Quality. This thing got a style all it's own with the grossgrain ribbon hatband nearly as wide as the crown is tall. Thanks again Bob !!

Glad it works so well for you Timmy. I liked the style a lot and wished that it fit me. Thanks again for stepping up on the No. 1!

The hat is bespoke, made for me by the former Susquehana
Hat Company. Do you recognise the fabric on the bow-tie?
It's an offcut from an Aloha shirt. My lady never wastes fabric.

The tie made from leftover shirt parts got me thinking..... Ive got a few nice tropicals that I wear tucked in because theyre WAY too long. Have thought about tailoring them shorter before and now Ive got a really good reason.... should be plenty of material for a bow tie or two!

What a difference a couple hours makes! Suns out and no rain. Good chance to test out a new to me used pair of Ray Ban Ambermatics Outdoorsman sunglasses that came in today ( threw in a pic with the Black Shooters while I was at it.) The ol Stetson 3x looks good with them both.

I suspect that these ambermatics have either been polished or lenses replaced because theres no Ray Ban logo on the front... no biggie ( does have the little Ray Ban etching on the lens near the temples so Im confident theyre real.) And they do darken and lighten! There are a few little scratches but theyre in decent shape

Really needed these for nightime driving.... my eyes just dont handle headlights anymore. Just in time for summer!

Actually ran into someone who knows more than I do about old Ray Bans. we got an eye loupe out and he said the lenses are etched BL NOT Ray Ban ( Bausch and Lomb) and that it means they are probably impact resistant glass ( unlike the new Italian made Ray Bans) He also found the Bausch and Lomb / RAY BAN USA on the frame as well as the model number... he thinks theyre pre 1975.... Said some of the Ray Bans from that time do NOT have the Ray Ban logo on the front of the lens. I feel better knowing theyre the real thing. Took them out for my monthly liquor restocking run over to then next town this afternoon, and Im reminded why I loved my ambermatics back in the day. These definately go down as an ebay victory!

It was announced yesterday that my Prefecture had officially entered the rainy season. No surprise there. We had constant rain from morning to night with the same forecast for the next couple of days.

What that means is that my polypropylene Akubra Capricorn will be on heavy rotation for work.

Thanks Rick. The bird is a Kahu (the NZ hawk) made by Metal Birds, a company that started by making NZ native birds, but is now operating in several countries including the US, making birds specific to the country. Unfortunately, I don’t have any big trees to knock them into, so had to get a little creative with how I attach them. https://www.metalbird.co.nz/?srsltid=AfmBOopkYzlp_24heWn-KnB9mhUqmGk1OcYfP7t-1QYqDPVz6favoEVU
