I would think that is more of a hat"s" box than a hat box.

A couple of auction hats unexpectedly arrived in this box. None of them a Pilgrim. Wish they had put it into a shipping box and not taped it and glued a label to it … oh well.

In the interest of equal exposure of defunct major catalogers, I present this 1967 Montgomery Ward shipping box.

It had a top hat in it, but not sure if it was original to the box — no visible Borsalino markings on it.
