What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

The hat I bought from the former Susquehana Hat Company. It became misshapen from the rain. My dry cleaners not only got it back into shape, they fitted a broader hatband, along with feather adornment. I love it.

Must be Camp Draft day out. This is what I am wearing today. Note the impact lighting has on the loden green. The second photograph is truer to colour

After a brisk sponging, brim flange and shaping Early 40s Vita-Felt western featuring the Borsalino style corrugated sweatband. I couldn’t be happier with the proportions and hat shape.
2 3/4” brim, 5 3/4” crown. I’ve only seen one other posted on here by @carouselvic, though I’d guess there are others.

Great to see an original Campdraft in the wild. And for a great price, too!

I also happen to be wearing one of mine today (CD, not OR) - this one of heritage quality.

Funny how, with all my vintage hats, these Akubras keep finding their way to my head. They are just so easy to wear...

(In case you're wondering, I am standing about in the sun letting dry a leather jacket that I just washed... real interesting work, this )

Nice lid Nathan ! I can see the resemblance between the 2 hats . I have an Akubra Stylemaster and never even thought to compare it to this new to me OR. The crown on my Stylemaster is lower than the OR, but the felt is very similar and the leather sweatbands are nearly identical sans the lettering.

So when Akubra lost the rights to use the "Open Road" name, they just renamed it "Campdraft." It's the same hat!

Bonus was got it from a proper country outfitter at country prices rather than with paying boutique price premium. Have to love Akubra has dealt with the same country stores for getting close to a century and has not worked them over as the many new owners of R&M Williams have.

Of the three Stylemasters I have the Carbon grey is the most versatile. Though the burgundy one makes a serious statement piece.

I like this forums’ approach and style.

Out of the devil may care I posted it on styleforum which is the home of some of worse tolls on the forums and was liken to Shriek. My response was as Shriek got the princesses in the end I will take that as a compliment.

I am seeking some great hats on the forum and as an Aussie wonderful to see our home town hero in Akubra making it big.

I especially enjoy seeing the vintage hats dusted off and been used along with the various customisations.

P. & C. Habig Vienna Hatters "Export Quality" "Ventilo" "Camber" possible production date 1952. This one is unusual because it's the only example of an American Market P. & C. Habig Wien Soft Felt Hat, that I have encountered, that doesn't have Trachten (Folk) elements. I found this Soft Felt back in 2009.

If you look closely along the front edge of the sweatband you will see "Ventilo" felt vents.

"Camber" was a popular form in this time period in Germany and Austria but I believe this is the only example I have encountered with the word stamped on the sweatband.

P. & C. Habig Wien used hanging cords in this time period. I haven't encountered any hanging cords on WWII era or older P. & C. Habig Wien Soft Felt Hats like I have with J. Hückel´s Söhne Soft Felt Hats.
