Two hat Tuesday!
Stopped at a favorite home town eatery.
Both new to me, one a 7 3/8 40s Knox Twenty beside my new to me 2013 Victory Cross Country Tour. I added the red ralley stripes yesterday. Needed a splash of color.
Much bigger bags than my other Victory and my hats appreciate the brim room!
The other a 7 3/8 slightly blue mid 50s Whippet with 2 9/16” brim. I paid way too much, but still not over resale value.

Added some ubiquitous local vegetation shots.

In the optician's reception, I chanced on a photo in a magazine. When I said: "I've got those shoes,"
the optician looked at the photo and said: "Why am I not surprised?"

Kudos indeed, it's many a year since I was at college, yet I remember how I had to put in hours of study and dedication, if it was easy, why are there not many more graduates?

Got home from my ride and this was waiting for me. Long, long story about this eBay purchase, so I won’t tell it, but this hat has one crazy story concerning all the messaging back and forth over a long period. Just happy he finally made it to his new home.
Early 40s pre-Open Road just as it looked after opening the box, minus some quick dry shaping. I’ve got many Vita Felts, all with smooth finishes and luxurious feel, but this one is thin and has a soft/loose rabbit fur type hand. You’ll notice this one has the Borsalino type corrugated sweatband, which the leather is thin, super supple and in new condition. You’ll also notice that I had to remove several pieces of black foam that was stuck to oil skin for sizing.
The floppy summer weight felt needs a light cleaning or maybe a brisk dry sponging. The Lot number is 7717 so it’s an old one but guessing somewhere in the 40 to 44 circa. I’m proud to be its custodian for hopefully a long while.

This Stetson was my grandfather's, I have no clue how old it is or what model it would be, but it's my go-to for warm weather yard work.

Once again I have some catching up to do on this thread but once again I have a good excuse!

My nephew is graduating university in May with a degree in music composition and jazz guitar. Very impractical degree but the lad has a great deal of talent and this all he has ever wanted to do so we are glad to support him.

This weekend we drove up to his school in Ohio to attend his senior year composition recital. He chose five of his original pieces to be performed by fellow students (musicians) at his school. It was a very special event and the night before we also had a chance to see his rock band play a gig in Toledo!

He even turned one of my poems into a song and it was VERY special indeed to hear it performed!

This was a magical weekend and I took the Mallory XV and the travel Borsalino up with me as well as the Stetson silk cap. Here are a few photos:
