My early hats (of my youth) were all westerns. I grew up with friends who owned horses, also was in a few rodeos -- again as a kid

And I do love wearing my Luccheses

This old Brent porkpie has been lurking around one of my bins for quite some time… don’t remember when it arrived. Its brim was super wonky and the severe upturn in front made the crown appear very short .. I spent a bit of time reshaping the brim with steam yesterday and I think it came out well.

Thanks guys…. I should have taken a before photo. But suffice to say it bordered on unwearable …. Like someone took Buster Keaton’s hat and threw it in the washing machine. With the steam i was able to lower the “bowl” shape on the flange a bit and created a look on the front of the brim I’m a bit more comfortable with. It’s certainly not without its warts…. A few stains here and there as well as a couple holes all the way through the felt… but they are up on the crease.. character stuff really. Glad I decided to give this one another shot.

I'm wearing my Resistol Three X San Antonio running errands and picking out remodel supplies with my wife today.

I have recently started to dabble in the shallow end of the cowboy boot pool, I have a couple pairs of Tecovas Ropers. Wearing my Tecovas Stocktons today, not pictured. I really enjoy wearing them but haven't graduated to full blown cowboy boots yet.

New Year's Resolution 1. Get rid of the pathetic stone age phone and get a new one, that can take decent photos.
New Year's Resolution 2. Before posing for any photo check the background for signs like "Toilets!"

We were at a New Year's Eve Gala last night/early this morning. It was some event and for once I was not the only hat wearer, although my bespoke Susquehanah got many a compliment.

The photo is pathetic, see new year's resolution, but the festivities were second to none.
Previously I have explained that Tina must resist anything strenuous like dancing, following her heart surgery. That didn't stop her having some fun last night. She turned up in a traditional ball gown, but smuggled inside a bag was Tina's answer to no dancing. White tails and a red top hat. The band got her up on stage, they loved it.

Hornskov’s for both Etsuko and I for our visit to the local Shrine on New Year’s Day. Mine’s an Emissary in black cherry beaver with a midnight blue vintage grosgrain ribbon. Etsuko’s is an Author in camel beaver with a petersham ribbon in wine.

Welcoming in the Year of the Snake.

Earlier in the day, we enjoyed some traditional New Year’s Day food. Most was Etsuko’s handiwork, with a few additions from the local supermarket.

Starting off 2025 with a hat I found on Ebay at the Salvation Army store in Australia. 3X Stetson San Juan model made in Australia under license in Brownstone color with 1-1/4 inch ribbon and matching brim binding originally sold at Walsh's "The big store for men and boys" in Perth, Australia.
